Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Ouch. They're small. But the hardware is low as well, so not so surprising. At least, they're useful to have numbers outside top 30 (I know, MC not equal to Famitsu, but I think it could be useful )

I'm talking about an early report, like "X console is selling a lot in X retail store, etc..", not the MC report.

There isn't anything important that needs to be posted. 3DS well above competition, Nintendo rised again last week as kids spent their money.

Drop rates for these Vita games are typical of second weeks. I wish both hardware and software were lifted up by seasonal effect but, yeah, nothing much to say.

Yeah but for what we know now, Wii U could be a Fall/Christmas launch and may not have a million seller for launch.
Just based on the games we've seen and how long it's been since previous entries it seems likely it will have at least a Wii Sports or New Super Mario Bros., either of which would be even bigger disappointments than FF XIII if they failed to hit a million.
For thos of you that use Garaph fairly often, how do you use the keyword "NOT LIKE" in your searches ?
I wanted to see how many third-party games sold above 200k on Wii :

*snip*

I eventually got the results by highlighting all occurrences of Nintendo in the result table with a Ctrl+F to filter by sight all thirs-parties but there must be a proper way to do it with SQL (there are 16 3rd party games that have sold more than 200k on Wii so far).

Platform: Wii
Publisher (Boolean): NOT Nintendo Pokémon
SalesLTD as low as...: 199999
Yeah, like Road I usually use that Boolean variant to weed out Pokémon as well, though as I've already got things like "third party games for platform Z" set up into super groups (Wii third party) I don't need to directly much anymore. But I tried recreating what you did, got identical SQL code given at the bottom, and the results didn't include Nintendo (though it still had the Pokémon). Not sure where we went different.

If they were going to do a Vita game, it wouldn't have Portable in the title (since, y'know, the system doesn't either)
This is not totally ironclad. I do own DS Final Fantasy Tactics A2 and several DS Wars games which have Advance in the title in the west and Famicom in the title in the east.
Dalthien said:
But MHP3 is already on Vita. You can buy it right now. It's been available since Vita launched. You seem to keep missing this point.
But in much the same way as Wii has several mainline Final Fantasy games. Whether it's a correct assumption or not, a gussied-up port for a launching system would be taken as a sign of more to come.

Maybe Capcom took a long hard look at the "success" MHP3HD had on the PS3, the troubles bringing that one to the west, as well as the possibility of a Vita version of that port diluting the handheld MH fanbase even more (PSP is still active after all) while major efforts for a new entry on a different platform (3DS) are already under way, and decided against doing one? I know that sounds totally unlike Capcom and all, but it's logical even without smelling any huge moneyhat behind it...

+ Monster Hunter Tri was linked to Nintendo, so they either should have exploited on a Nintendo console or never touched again.

Since we are pulling theories out of our asses I want to participate too:

Early 2011 - MH3G and MHP3HD are in development
Spring - The leaker sees both MH games and the other stuff
End of spring/early summer - Nintendo sees the 3DS tanking and says, what the fuck? Lets spend some of the outrageous amount of money we have on MH4.
Summer - MH4 3DS demo is created, MHP3HD is cancelled for various reasons.
September - Nintendo shows MH3G and MH4. Takao is heartbroken, Mpl90 cries from happiness and Tenbatsu can like the portable MH games now.

...MHP3HD could be moved to PS3?

Only problem is MH4 suppossedly started development concurrently with MH3G.

That's not a problem. MH4 could have started development earlier in the year with no hardware decided yet.

The MH4 demo looked like it was put together in a short timeframe.

...MHP3HD could be moved to PS3?

No. MHP3HD was always part of the PSP remaster program and it was Sony who approached Capcom with the emulator early in the year.

I'm just reading Edge report about Big S handheld, the NGP Color, first week end of sales.
They reported 294 units ( no, the "k" isn't missing ).
Can't be that low right !?

EDIT:
Bandai competitor got almost 60K first week.

I added super groups containing launch day games for various systems, though since it comes entirely from the first week's overall Top 30, Vita's is less complete than it will eventually be. Wii is the real outlier, having sold an absurd number of copies of Wii Sports and Wii Play.

294 were the sales of NeoGeoPocket the week before the launch of Color. The week of launch was 18.809

In a later issue Edge admitted to have fucked up the number, promising to update with the real performance in later issues.
Ah the dark age of sale age ( if you couldn't access internet ).

It might have appeared that way, but the MH4 demo was evidently in a very advanced state and is cut from actual gameplay. Not something that decided it's platform that summer at the least, they probably decided on 3DS months before that.

uhhh, I'm not sure if serious.

It's an entirely reasonable point. In a vacuum, exclusivity for a series like Monster Hunter is worth far, far more than any first-party could possibly pay. Capcom has all the leverage here (they have the single biggest third-party franchise in Japan) and would normally choose their platform based on how they could maximize the benefit they receive from that (by keeping dev costs down, targeting overseas sales effectively, etc.)

Because of the scope of this franchise, the performance difference between two platforms could easily stretch out into hundreds of millions of dollars over the course of an entire generation. Changing the platform for a title like that is going to take a payout that beats a fairly conservative estimate of losses incurred by the switch. It is completely implausible that Capcom were planning for Vita and Nintendo paid them enough to change their minds.

On the other hand, I think it's entirely plausible that Capcom picked 3DS upfront (since it's a better choice in many ways -- lower dev costs and better chances in the West) but still held out for concessions from Nintendo anyway -- and used MH3P HD (a port of an already-finished game that was getting ported to PS3 anyway) as a bargaining chip in that negotiation.

I guess no early news from Famitsu means no game (MH) crossed the million bar. That would be a bit surprising since MC data showed how close it was from breaking it. But in the same time, they listed its sales at 800k as of their Week 52 (which is Week 51 according to MC recall me ?). Why is there such discrepancy for that title ?

Probably because it's not the first million sellers on 3DS (that's why they shared earlier the information about the mark for MK7 and SM3DL).

Guys, don't worry. MH3G is well above the million mark this week. At least for MC. In fact, at the third week, while MH3G was at 885k for MC, it was at 810k for Famitsu. Don't worry.

Famitsu has MH3G at 809,322 as of week 51, whereas Media Create had it at 885,456. It's mainly due to a disparity in their reporting of the first two weeks on sale, but shouldn't be enough to prevent the game from passing 1 million after week 01, by Famitsu's reckoning. Unless the game isn't showing good legs.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Will there be a Media Create party when MH3G reaches 1.2m? :p

I don't think Famitsu does report for every game that crosses the million. Last time it was more because it was 3DS biggest week plus two games passed the million at the same time.

I'd really hoped Kirby Mass Attack would have shot up as high as Kirby's Adventure Wii, but sadly not. At least it's passed Power Paintbrush's sales, though, and probably sold ~35,000 more over the past two weeks.

What happened to BurntPork? Or rather 'where'?

The CES Wii U thread (I would avoid going there, it's a terrible thread).

It did pretty well for a Kirby spin-off released after the 3DS came out.

Going with Famitsu's numbers, it's at 313k. It's a good result.

So, will the Vita sales go up or down in Week 1, 2012?

It'd be hard for them to go down more. Seems like they'd have to go up a little, as there's got to be some people that would want it that got New Year's money. Late February will be interesting. Unless something comes up to change things, watching Vita hardware sales from now through February will be like watching a car be demolished in a crash in slow motion. You know it's really bad for the car/driver, but you're interested to see just how it disintegrates.

While I'm expecting a slight bump for the Vita in week 1, it wouldn't surprise me if it went down. PS3 sales dropped in week 1 of 2007, so a boost isn't always guaranteed.

Yep, i'm expecting the Vita to sell similar to what it did last week, or perhaps even go slightly down. I'm not expecting any big bump at least.

kids well buy the 3DS and PSP with there money, i don't think the VITA had anything interesting for Japanese consumer last year, and things don't look so hot in the upcoming months (software wise).

so selling less than last week wont be a surprise.
