Yeah. It's pretty sad seeing how western developers don't believe that there's a market for Vita because if they don't see the point, they are not going to make games.
PlayStation Vita Thoughts - D.I.C.E. 2012 (Bioware, Insomniac, Rocksteady, Epic)

A video about the vita has more iphone/ipad/smartphone mentions than vita mentions. And there are basically zero positive comments about the handheld.
This is one of the reasons why I'm not planning on getting a Vita until we have a better picture of its future. I love the hardware but I have never seen this apathy towards a console from the industry before.
Wouldn't it be safe to say Kid Icarus will do well since it seems to be Nintendo's big portable spring game this year?
its ok you can borrow one of these.
What am I looking at?
SCEA should issue a press release/statement no later than the end of next week. If we don't get one or it's suspiciously worded, we can assume sales are pretty bad.
Personally i dont think that video indicates much one way or the other. I mean, on one hand they mention the usual stuff about competition from cellphones and tablets, but then on the other hand they mention that good content is what is needed and that publishers are looking to put their games on several of platforms. This could mean that they think that the Vita might get strong competition from other devices, but that they will try to make good content for it. Only time will tell what happens though. So no Mass Effect, Dragon Age from Bioware, no games from IGs, no Batman or superhero games from Rocksteady, no Gears, SC, IB, or Unreal from Epic.

I'm curious, how does this actually work? and lolwut, 599 for this? Who would buy it?

That, plus the pedigree, plus Nintendo has been hyping it to hell since the 3DS was revealed.
It was one of the first (or the first?) games revealed for the system at e3 2010.
Those things you mention, though, mean it might sell well out of the gate, but the potential fun had with the game will be the factor in whether it becomes an 'evergreen' title.
I can't believe you have people in this thread rooting for a dating sim to sell well.
I understand console allegiance (well i don't understand it, it is idiotic anyway you look at it), but rooting for a dating sim is just sad.
As long as the netcode isn't broken like in SSBB, then the game should be fine.

Plus, it gives us amazing pictures and videos!
People like to say the netcode was broken, but I honestly wonder at that. I haven't done extensive network programming, but...
There aren't many online games where so many things have to be on-screen and active at once, while retaining pixel-perfect positioning and exact frame timing at all times. You're not just handling two characters and their deterministic inputs.
As well, with games like Mario Kart or Halo you can fake a lot of stuff, and you don't need to have precision updates all the time. Nobody cares really if Player A shot the item off 10 seconds ago but Player B didn't see it until 8 seconds ago, or if a shell on Player A's screen looks like it goes straight through Player B for a few seconds before Player B registers the hit. No big deal with that type of game. But can you imagine the chaos that would be in Smash Bros.?
Anyway, this is a total aside, but I think that the common "oh the netcode was broken!" oversimplifies the issue. I honestly wonder whether a full-items smash bros. can actually be done online with acceptable internet latency or not, especially with people on connections of drastically different speeds.

Out of curiosity, what would be the best selling game in Japan which actually fits into the sort of game Kid Icarus is? Star Fox 64?
FFS, stop with this retarded argument already. "We knew bla bla bla". Fact: first 6 months of 3DS were more barren then a fucking Gobi desert.
Yes, good games are coming to Vita? You know why? Because it is one of two flagship products in Sony's most profitable division, that's fucking why.
The problem really wasn't so much any lag or delay with SSBB.
It was the fact that the game would constantly not recognize people as online.
Or it would just not connect at all.
Or it would not let people join your games randomly.
It was just awful.
I could deal with a bit of delay, but not with not even be able to play.

I'm not sure StarFox is the best comparison to Kid Icarus. It's only one third of one half of the game.Out of curiosity, what would be the best selling game in Japan which actually fits into the sort of game Kid Icarus is? Star Fox 64?

Wow, Binary Domain is expensive in Japan. 8300 yen-ish? Is that a special edition or something?

Ridge Racer 3DS did surprisingly well though.Tekken, Ace Combat and similar games are never going to sell well on 3DS, anywhere. PSP could get away with these spinoffs and ports because at that time they were graphically impressive and comparable to games on home consoles and were "new experiences" never seen before on a handheld.
In the case of Tekken 3DS it also doesn't help that Namco forgot to include single player modes.
I don't understand how tekken shipped without a single player mode. Mind boggling.
It does have single player modes, just not as many as people normally expect in this day and age of filler content rife fighting games.

Seems we have a few sell through percentages too.

What's the next "big" game for the Vita in Japan?
40-50k for HM in its first day?
What's coming out in the interim besides that?
