So you're saying titles that debut at a system's launch sell less in the initial week? Who woulda thunk it?

Have a fun! Enjoy!

So, you're saying it's just like the Star Trek movie number curse? ...that the odd-numbered ones are terrible and even-numbered ones are great? Interesting...

Am I the only one not surprised now adays when we see sales charts with almost all Nintendo games?

It's kind of normal, now.

I'll be most shocked if NSMB surpasses the original SMB in sales.

BTW, could a benevolent mod please remove the word "Software" from the thread title? Typo/bug. It's not meant to imply there'll be another thread for hardware... or should it?
No.

Wow, that's incredible. The game has crazy legs. In the next 2 weeks the DS will have yet another 4m seller already. What is the Japanese record for total 4m sellers on a console?
4, which the original Gameboy has. (Pokemon R/B/G, Pokemon G/S, Tetris and Super Mario Land.)

It's getting closed to bet Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
No. Pokemon D/P combined actually outsold it this week. (Famitsu has them at #3.)

Glad to see a PS3 title finally take top ranks... even if it did by the skin of it's teeth, it's still at the top, even though the game was in arcades there for ages it seems, hehe... Maybe just maybe it'll help create a spark for things to come... the new Gundam should make the list, not top ranks, but should do decent... when does that hit? Not for a while correct?

The sales could be there it shows, just needs a quality app (a larger userbase would help too)... So bring on some AAA stuff Sony, get off your arses...

Wow, that's pretty surprising.
Especially considering the Saturn came from a system that didn't peform all that well in JPN (right?).

Actually Saturn performed better in Japan than any other territory it was released in. That can be seen from the sales of VF2, which is so far the only SEGA title to sell over a million in Japan (Though Love and Berry might get there soon). Still lost to the PlayStation in the end but the Saturn was by far the most popular SEGA system in Japan.

Let me preface this by saying that I don't think Sony is "doomed" worldwide at all.. I'm strictly talking about Japan...

So does Sony officially go into panic mode if Gundam sells <100k first week?

I mean, there has to be a point, some breaking point, where alarm bells start going off right?

Before 2007 is over...right? Some kind of price drop, SKU reshuffle, purchased exclusive...or is it going to be like the PSP where they just don't give a ****? As of right now that first million is looking really far away.

I just find it hard to believe that they would spot Nintendo a several million unit lead in one year with the hope that 2008 will magically turn it all around. If they have any big secret announcements, now would be a good time to drop one.

Wii - 71,750 (1,587,000)
PSP - 31,500 (5,067,750)
PS3 - 28,750 (672,250)
360 - 5,250 (345,500)

PS3 sales went up ~9,000! :lol
I don't need to say anything about DSL sales...
Wii... if it maintains these ~70,000 in sales through the month it will be amazing. Naruto and Fire Emblem are coming out soon, too.

What I meant to say is that the Megadrive didn't perform all too well (right?), but the Saturn's launch title still performed rather well in such situation.

Ok, I see what you are saying. Actually I am surprised that the first VF sold even that many. The title was already pretty old by the time the Saturn launched.

Anyway, whats coming out next week across all platforms? Anyone really know?

People who buy Dreamcast are hardcore SEGA fans... which makes it an exception. SEGA games sells on SEGA systems...!

Dear god. I wonder if that title will make more money as a Virtual Console game 15-16 years later.

I noticed how the PSP has regained stability in the japanese market.

Before the christmas period, it looked like it was going to crash and disappear into xbox levels. Now it's sony's best performing platform, and is steady around 30k.

This is like kicking a man while he is down or pouring salt into the wound. I'm getting the game next week but it was foolhardy to think that this was going to move systems. This isn't the 90's

Yeah but the software's arguably doing worse. Looks like Sony really has made the 21st century walkman, and nobody knows that it ACTUALLY PLAYS GAMES!

I remember when the PSP brain training was there threatening to steal the market.

Don't forget Sony's fake nintendogs and fake Animal Crossing (Mr. Resetti included).

cank stoochie is downright creeeeepy

i hope VF5 gets the sales it deserves in the U.S., but i expect it to get fairly well ignored here as well.

man, I don't know which were worse days, if these or the later.

but Monster Hunter Portable 2 will put the PSP on the map ( somehow?) again, I think. Japanese really seem to like that and it has really good legs.

It will pair up with MHP 1 on the top 30 charts

I dunno, I'm actually thinking of making it my first PS3 game... Though it'll likely still do underwhelming sales.
