Media Molecule not showing anything at E3

Welp, there goes my most anticipated reveal for the Sony conference =|

I guess whatever they're doing needed more time in the oven anyways, as it was basically just an idea back last year.

So no SSM, no Media Molecule no Sony Bend ?

Hello there is someone here ? :p

When did we hear no Sony Bend?

EDIT - Oh, a thuway tweet

I guess WWS or SCEE studios had a final run through of what might be shown next week and they decided not to show MM's game. Hence how they would know about other stuff slated for E3 etc.

Maybe 'soon' is Gamescom. Hope so.

I think it's interesting they chose to tweet this though. They've never given that kind of notice before a show before, I don't think. I guess they know there was a bit of expectation that we might properly see their project at E3.

Considering there are 42 people in total in MM, the "main team" has around 28 people (since Tearaway had 14 working on it), so I think they are alright time-wise.

LBP 1 was October 2008. LBP 2 came out January 2011. Two years and three months between them.

Next game is 2015 at best. That's four+ years since LBP 2. That seems like a lot of dev time, even when taking LBP 2, Tearaway and nextgen experiments into account. Makes me wonder if their experiments with the Move controller didn't work out.

Media Molecule usually shows their stuff at or around Gamescom don't they?

So why are they getting people into a theater for this? Free showing of Amazing Spiderman 2?
Because Media Molecule is the only studio Sony has and there are no other games....

I'm trying my hardest to stay optimistic for Sony's E3 conference but damnnnnnnn, I was so looking forward to some Media Molecule. :(

Well, that's surprising. I guess soon means Gamescon, but that also means 2015.
On the bright side, it also mean this will have 4 years dev team, which is huge for Mm.

Awwwww WHAT?! Come on! What have they been doing for the past three fuckin' years other than Tearaway, a game which was only manned by a 15-strong team.

Dammit, I had my heart set on them unveiling their PS4 game at E3. It would've been so right.

I think it's the other way around...the documents they filed a while ago with the local company registrar suggested various bits of r&d after LBP2, which I'm guessing didn't work out, and then they finally swung back around on Move.

I think the kernel of what they're doing is probably not changed from what was shown at the PS4 announcement, but there's so much to flesh out given the kind of vision they seem to have (i.e. a kind of 3D game/world building platform). Morpheus might be influencing things too, requiring some re-work or tuning.

Your last game was in early 2011 MM c'mon guys.

Edit: Tearaway, but that was a super small team so doesn't really count.

Because this is not the only game you’re working on now is it… [Media Molecule has announced a PS4 title, but have yet to name it or give real details]

J: No it’s not, and for a tiny studio making two games is quite a lot. The Tearaway team is probably about twenty people.

M: There are probably about twenty to twenty five people.

And the other team is?

J: Well the studio is fifty people, but that includes HR and office management.

M: So we have a fairly small team on the other project.

The team working on the PS4 game was the same size or even smaller than the one working on Tearaway.

How would that even work...
It wouldn't. It's just port begging. It really shows how much people will resist buyi-.. Bayonetta 2. Nearly perfect analogy.

REASONABLY, what would it take for you not to be disappointed in E3? : Page 4
Sony : Guerilla Games, Media Molecule, Sony Bend, for 2015. One unknown exclusive for 2014. Massive Firmware update. Shawn Layden to be a good presenter. Some Vita love. It doesn't have to be a lot, just enough.

-welp-

Good, I haven't been a fan of any of their games so more room for other first party studios I may enjoy .

Expected but still disappointing. I imagine whatever they have cooking will be hugely ambitious and time consuming to develop.

At least there are rumblings of LBP Hub coming to PS4!

I'm starting to think that's what this year's E3 is gonna be like. Everything that's supposed to be there, isn't.

I hadn't thought about that.. it would be something I'd buy considering I sold my Vita.

Have you played Tearaway? It would not work on the PS4. The gameplay in many areas centers around use of the touch screen, touch pad, both cameras, and sometimes more than one of these at the same time.

That's the question that everyone who has played Tearaway asks themselves whenever somebody mentions what the likelihood of a PS4 port would be.

This.

Too bad. They were the main studio I wanted to see. I guess Morpheus will just be racers and shooters year one. :(

Are people really expecting Morpheus to be released this fall or something? Seems very unlikely to me. Pretty sure it's more than a year away, so a bigger focus on it at next year's E3 makes more sense.
