I really want a full keyboard, but at the same time if this phone is a lot better, I would just go ahead and wait a month or two to buy this.

Battery life and camera MP aren't an issue for me either. Apps might be in the future, but I'm not even sure I will use a ton of apps.Andrex said:Interior-wise, it's very much the same hardware as the G1. The only things changed are
- Increased battery capacity (1150mAh to 1340mAh)
- Increased storage (256MB to 512MB)
- And if rumors are true, for America the camera will be increased (3.2MP to 5.0MP)
The battery thing isn't much of an issue if like me, you were planning on getting an extra one anyways. I'm not much of a picture taker, so the last one wouldn't bother me either.
However, the doubled storage is potentially a big issue, as apps cannot be run from the SD card yet, so if you plan on having tons of apps loaded on your phone, go with the Magic (although there might be an upgrade in the future to allow apps to be run from the SD card).

DrFunk said:Well, if it doesn't come to At&t, it can always be bought unlocked, right?
Andrex said:Rumored leaked T-mobile roadmaps put it in the Summer, possibly in July.
Edit- Oops, double post, meant to edit this into the above one. Ah well.

The Magic? Who said it doesn't? =/NetMapel said:Too bad there isn't a horizontal keyboard though. I'd like to have that instead of it being vertical. Why couldn't it switch keyboard size by tilting the cellphone horizontally like Blackberry Storm ?
What exactly do you mean? There is a horizontal keyboard if you tilt the phone. It also has bigger keys due to more horizontal space.NetMapel said:Too bad there isn't a horizontal keyboard though. Not from the videos that I saw ? Maybe you can show me a video of it doing that ? I'd really love to have a horizontal keyboard so there's more typing space.Krelian said:What exactly do you mean? Not a video, but a photo of my phone showing the horizontal keyboard: http://i40.tinypic.com/53s3tj.jpgNetMapel said:Not from the videos that I saw ? Maybe you can show me a video of it doing that ? I'd really love to have a horizontal keyboard so there's more typing space.

Hell yeah. That's good to see. This is definitely good news in my mind.Krelian said:Not a video, but a photo of my phone showing the horizontal keyboard: http://i40.tinypic.com/53s3tj.jpg
Sorry for the crappy quality, my camera is old and doesn't work well if there's not enough light. The screen actually looks much better too.

Yeah, it's a little weird how it's implemented, but at least it's there. I usually use the vertical keyboard, though.jonnybryce said:One thing I don't enjoy is how the screen reorientates itself. The back light shuts off, the screen flips and the light turns back on. Earlier videos showed it being a more bouncy effect which I prefer. Either way, after seeing the Pre's reorientation in under a second, seeing the Magic do it is kinda awkward.

Andrex said:It's possible, this phone could be released unlocked as the ADP2. If not you could always go the ebay route.
I thought that you could turn that on by going into settings and turning on Rotation Animation or something like that.
jonnybryce said:Oh yeah? I've never seen anything about that in videos or when I read about the Magic. That would be cool though.
I can't find that option. You can turn off automatic display orientation altogether, though.Andrex said:I thought that you could turn that on by going into settings and turning on Rotation Animation or something like that.
Andrex said:Yeah I mean it's in this video (right, that's what you're talking about?)

Partly the reason I wanted a G1. Since you need the physical keyboard to do that stuff [last time I checked].
El Papa said:Someone(s) got a hold of the HTC Hero ROM, which is, presumably, a highly customized Android 1.5 build by HTC, and is porting it to the G1.
I've tried the Magic ROM on my G1 and was really digging it. HTC is doing some awesome stuff with the UI.
Midas said:Do we know when it's going to be released? Q2? Q3? I REALLY need a new phone now but at the same time I don't want to make any premature decisions.
AmishNazi said:Does anyone know if that Samsung i7500 is just the Omni running Android? Contract is about time for "New every two" at Verizon next month and was already considering the Omni anyway.
Winterblink said:I'm hoping that Rogers in Canada is getting this and not the G1 -- like they're advertising on their pages. The G1 just doesn't appeal to me at all, whereas this one would probably be a definite sale for me.
I'm currently in the market for a smartphone, looking at a BB Pearl or Curve but might hold off if Rogers is going to get this puppy.
