The dueling solos for Hangar 18 are godly. Nick Menza was in great form. Everything worked well together...the first Megadeth album (only) that was better than anything Metallica ever put out.
 
I already know what that is before clicking on it: J-Pop, right?

EDIT: Close enough. Pretty funny though, and his Japanese is really good.

And yes i picked up a guitar after listening to this album :lol
Tough today i only play SNK songs and i no longer listen to metal.(Only Megadeth)

One of my all-time favorite albums. Playing Hangar 18 on GH2 is so fun for me.

Back in high school, my friend and I learned Holy Wars on guitar from tab in a guitar magazine. He could play Mustain's solo but neither of us could do any of Friedman's solos.
Same with Hangar 18

there is something to be said for that, i love chris poland's crazy ass jazz solos and the overall feel of peace sells, the album as a whole has a more chaotic and random feel to it, maybe due to mustaine's drug use at the time, were RIP is way more premeditaded

Anyway amazing album, Dawn Patrol has one of my favorite bass lines, and Holy Wars motherfuckers Holy Wars!
I can't wait for their new album, I wanna hear what Broderick can do!

AJFA is basically a rehash of MOP which was a basically a rehash of RTL, so no way bud, AJFA is probably the 4th or 5th best metallica album

Why do Megadeth fans always do this? It's like they HAVE to prove how much better than Metallica they are. It's good album that can stand on it's own. It doesn't have to be compared to anything. Ditch the inferiority complex, it's really unnecessary.

I wouldn't say I'm a fan of either. I only like RIP from Megadeth and I only like KEA from Metallica. Doesn't mean I'm disallowed from saying that.

Rust in Peace...Polaris is a sexy sexy song. I like how some of the stuff he says could refer to a PENIS lol! Only thing I don't like bout the album (and Megadeth in general) is his lyrics are kinda shitty sometimes, like he's trying way hard to make them rhyme.

Fucking incredible album.

Tornado of Souls doesn't get enough recognition for being a fucking incredible song. That and Holy Wars are what stand out for me.

Has some fun songs on it, but the vocals really kill it for me. Why must Mustaine sound so whiny, and why must his lyrics suck so much? Except for that, the album is fairly awesome.

I am a bigger fan of Metallica than of Megadeth, but on this one album Megadeth is better. If my opinion offends, grow a pair.
 
I'm of the belief that people who prefer Megadeth tend to prefer them because they "thrash harder". But I don't think they have the songwriting that Metallica does.
 
Darko, I must tip my hat to you, you are a gentleman and a scholar. This was a much needed appreciation thread for the greatest thrash album ever created.
Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman are gods among men and Holy Wars is easily the greatest thrash anthem ever made.
Every song on this album is absolutely stellar, apart from maybe Dawn Patrol (I could do without it).
Rust in Peace is timeless and nothing will come close to it's sheer speed and thrash. This album has it all from sick riffs, incredible solos, killer basslines, Mustaine's snarl vocals and lyrics fits perfect (Screw the haters) and awesome drums to boot. Best. Album. Ever.

It's because they add Mechanix in between Holy Wars and Punishment Due. Dammit they need to release their album and go on tour. I want to see them SO bad!
 
Nothing can be said that hasn't already been said about this album here except I wish this album was in rock band instead of Peace Sells.

Same here. Not offended, but I think comments like that just reinforce the same tired old argument where one has to be better than the other. They're both awesome, and both stand on their own.

Weird, AJFA is a lot more different than Metallicas other albums, its somewhat gloomy and really fucking raw.

RTL was their heaviest. MOP was their most melodic thrash album. KEA was their thrashiest(if thats even a word). TBA was still metal yet more hard rock.

Really its not a stretch to say any of them are similar. But rehashes?God no!

Anyway Rust In Peace is an awesome album, I wish the next album is close to its quality, which is almost impossible.

Apparently it isn't such a popular album but I love She-Wolf, FFF and Trust from Cryptic Writings. I've been meaning to listen to their other albums, this thread reminded me of this 8-year desire so I'm going to go through them on Spotify.

I'm not talking about what tracks follow one another, I'm talking about the sound and overall feel. Which is quite different from album to album.

Its best to just leave the "elitist" metal heads alone, just nod when they say something and move on.

Honestly I dont know why so many metal heads are very arrogant and know-it-all when it comes to music. And Justice For all is easily my favorite metallica album then Master of Puppets. To say that AJFA was a "rehash" of their previous two albums is like saying Dio Sabbath sounds the same as Ozzy Sabbath.
In no universe should metallica ever had released KEA then stopped, fucking lunacy to be blunt.
Some of you all (IE the elitists) are certainly entitled to your opinions, but just because its cool to hate metallica now doesn't disregard what metallica's first four albums did for metal.


Anyway I fucking love Megadeth, seen them twice in the past few years. Even their non thrash stuff like Countdown and Youthanasia are awesome.

I'd put Poison lower, of all the tracks on the album it's the one I enjoy the least.

i'll say it again AJFA is a rehash of MoP which was a rehash of RTL, what makes One that much different from say Sanitarium or Fade to Black? they the exact same song structure basically, how do all 3 albums distinguish themselves? the only difference between MoP and AJFA is a new inaudible bass player, the same guy produced all 3 albums and they have a similar sound

dio sabbath is completely different that ozzy sabbath, so i'm not entirely sure why you even brought that up, if you had said AJFA is different from KEA, i would tend to agree with you, but that statement otherwise comes off as pretty retarded

what exactly did metallica do for metal besides making it big mainstream? metallica wasnt even the most influential thrash metal band, slayer (say what you will about them) had a much bigger impact on metal today then metallica ever did, metallica's could be said to be influential in the regard that they may have been someone's gateway drug into better heavy metal idk
