I haven't watched the news in a while. Feels good man.
Totally agree.
I cut out mainstream news sites long time ago. And since the politics tab is dead, all the junky topics I dont know about either. Although to be fair, I like seeing drama and calling out losers since they deserve it.
But now, I just check out CP24 for my local news and half of it is boring shit like daily covid count and car accidents. Thats fine
The net is just as enjoyable without the flaming topics, where most of my surfing is games, sports, business and checking job sites. I've been getting into YT channels where people travel the world eating street food where I have that in a small side window while I surf the net on my own. Amazing what awesome chow you can get for like $1, while here you buy a shitty Big Mac combo and it's like $9.
People (esp ones who cant handle it) should look into cutting out the ratings baiting topics and sensationalist stories and focus on other topics which are more cut and dried and hard to massage into combative topics.
You got to remember that the net makes it easy for people to post. And you got millions of people in the world who are trying to make a living off your click. So they will try to bait you in and hope you stick around.
As Howard Stern said on radio decades ago, even he said on radio it's all about combative guests who get the best reactions. If you like drama, go for it. If you don't, skip it. Toss out some pissy topics and people yelling and even he'll sit back and let the flames rise. Up to you whether you want to take part.
It's pretty hard to fake daily boxscores of hockey and baseball games, and when you read up on articles ya the editor has a certain view, but it's not a glamourized political view. Many of us chat daily in the Stocks thread. Even if you dont care about reading what random people post on a gaming site or even have $1 in the markets, it's still fun, I made some money on a tip from someone, and there isn't hammer heading divisive opinions even if someone doesn't agree. It's more chill as everyone has a common goal to have fun and make some cash. Which is something politics often isn't about.
You'd think stock people would be the ones pissing on each other's food since money is at stake, and all it takes is some bad advice and you're in the hole $10k trusting a bad tip. But you don't get that here or even dealing with people I know outside of forums. There's a certain level of respect people have even when money is at stake.
But for politics, half the time you don't even have moolah as a critical factor, and lots of political topics wont even affect you whether it goes your way or not. Yet, people fight the fight like it's WWII.
Go figure.
