Popular gaming forum NeoGAF once had tens of thousands of active members and regularly drove conversations on video game websites through its threads aggregating gaming news and opinions. Then, in October 2017, the site's founder and sole owner was accused of sexual misconduct. He denied the accusation and removed forum messages that mentioned it. Users revolted, half the moderators quit (in part due to other longstanding tensions), and for several days there was bedlam.

Then, a group of old moderators and power-users started a new gaming website called ResetEra. Using Twitter, Discord, and Reddit to spread the news, they brought in more than seven thousand signups in just a few hours. Within a week, the site had picked up where the last one left off. Since then, ResetEra has replaced NeoGAF as the video game industry's go-to news aggregator and the place to capture the zeitgeist of the gaming community.

They've become the finger wagging old church ladies they would have rebelled against back in the day. I've also seen (even here on GAF) that you couldn't have possibly come to your own conclusion that a movie/TV series was shit, you had to have been told what to think from an alt right Nazi youtube channel.
 
I didn't realize some people got so angry over having their posts deleted (referring to live thread). It's never seemed like a big deal to me, but whatever.

I had my coworker call me after an impromptu Teams meeting once and ask that I don't curse. I didn't even remember cursing, because, well, I'm adult and sometimes bad words slip out. It was really funny because she was a new hire, having interned with us for a few months then hired when she graduated. I of course just ignored her.

Wife has a Saturday shift…I put the toddler's shirt on backwards and I'm like…am I bad person for not giving much of a shit? Cause the toddler doesn't give a shit. But if someone sees, then I will have shits to give because they'll figure out I'm lazy and we can't have that.

But I'm probably not going to fix it

My older brother's best friend loved the smell of garages and their general vibe as a kid so much he owned his own repair shop by 20, his own custom shop by 22 (installing custom stereos and rims and other stuff), and had two homes paid off by 30 thanks to his two successful car-related companies. Lean into it man. Encourage you kid's garage ambitions.

If it really is a proclivity toward the shop work, I can encourage and facilitate learning. I got the tools and experience…
