I think what Konami should do is have virtuous or whoever adapt metal gear 1 and metal gear 2 solid snake into a modern game and have david hayter write the script and he would star as solid snake and kiefer sutherland as big boss. the fans would accept it

Kiefer probably forgot that he even starred in a Metal Gear game. David is probably still crawling on Shadow Moses island.

Fuck David Hayter, that clown has been dickriding on MSG for decades and acts like he owns the role.

My hope:

They need to treat this as well as the Castlevania collections.
If they do this I hope they make Rising an easier platinum!

I'd be happy to finally complete portable ops. Couldn't be arsed finishing it on a handheld!

I've beaten peace walker but I'd probably platinum it this time around.

Anyone remember Metal Gear Survive? Anyone remember that?

Yes, as j played over 100 hours of it.

  1. Not really Metal Gear
  2. But with a funny connection to the story.
  3. Story and dialogues had the expected Kojima goofiness somehow.
  4. Great gameplay and replay value.
  5. Very fun to play with friends.
  6. Bad choice to tie online character progression to the story. I have a couple of friends who won't play anything on their own so they couldn't keep up with rhe rest of us.

Are there any good videos to watch to see the story connections to MGSV?

One reason Rising might not make it is cause it doesn't exactly fall as a "Solid" collection game.

IMO, a prospective Vol 2 would have - Peace Walker - MGSIV - Phantom Pain (with boosted resolution for current gen)

While a part of me hopes that they wouldn't release MGSV for the third time after releasing "MGSV: The Definitive Experience" I guess I could see them doing that.

Considering Kojima is out and the Konami isn't as precious about the franchise as he was, I can also see them possibly bring in a version of Portable Ops and/or the Acid games.

I trust konami at this point. Silent hill 2 remake slaps, silent hill 1 remake will slap, metal gear solid delta: snake eater will slap, and silent hill F looks like it's going to slap.

Yep, shame that it's stuck in 720p though...

Amazing game, a joy to both play and listen to (dat soundtrack man).
Hmm? It by defaults only goes up to 1080p, but you can set it to 4K on the PC. Ultrawide is anamorphic so not great but you can run it. It's even DRM free on GOG.

Boosted resolution? Original PC release already supported 4K. Switch would be the only platform form a second volume releases to that doesn't already have Phantom Pain available on it. Getting all of the PSP releases and IV is more needed than resolution change in V.

TPP ran at 1440p on PS4 Pro, never got a One X patch or current gen enhancements, so there's room to bring TPP and Ground Zeroes to 4K/60 or 1440p/120 on PS5/Series.

Hopefully MGS Collection Vol. 2 will have MGS4 and Rising.
I don't really care about the portable games. Played them both but didn't scratch that itch for me.
Never played Acid but I'd be willing to try if they re-release it.

I would also give it a chance to a new entry but I'm not sure where they could take it to. The formula is very well established so if they just follow it they could make something passable.

Alternatively they could remake MGS and mix it with MGS2 somehow as the first one I think it's too short to stand on it's own on a Remake.

Not sure about that.
I can give you a quick summary:
Game starts at the end of Ground Zeroes.
You are left behind on a sinking motherbase, expecting to die.
Then a wormhole opens and you jump in.

You find yourself in a post apocalyptic place, everything is destroyed around you, desert etc.
There are the zombie kind of enemies and a huge one that patrols the map. Thats the final boss that you need to take out.
There are some people that help you and you start a base.
For the most part you believe you are in a parallel universe but you discover you are in the future and if you don't kill that thing this is fhe future of earth.

It has 2 endings and one of them is fun:
At the end if you jump back in a wormhole, there is a cutscene that shows you alone, picking up a photo and wandering off.
The game implies you are one of the soldiers Snake has been collecting during the side missions :D
I believe it was a nice touch.

Can we just get some new games, please? I am so tired of modern corpo gaming charging more and more for incremental hardware just to play the same old ancient ass software. MGS had its run. Let's move on.

I will say it again, I have no faith in Konami until they prove otherwise.
They've released Contra: Operation Galuga, Silent Hill 2 (2025) and Suikoden I & II HD Remastered, all of which have had a very positive reception, and all indications are that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is going to be an amazing title. Konami seems to be back to recapturing the old magic and making great video games again.

I can understand not wanting to engage with bad games, but currently they are a publisher on a major upswing not a downward spiral as they were in the 2010s.

I would love to see a version of MGS4 that performs well. But what I would love more is changes to about 60% of the game to make all of the mechanics usable rather than Act 3 being follow person > rail shooter > boss and Act 4 having no human enemies.

They spent all that time developing gameplay mechanics that you don't even use for half the game. But what you do get is fun and would be even more fun at 60fps+

The only way I've played MGS4 has been via emulation on PC to get it at 4k 60 fps in good detail. It would be damn good to have them properly port and get this remastered on today's platforms.
