Sadly, I don't see much of a difference visually.
Didn't they use a Michael Biehn picture from terminator, for the cover of Metal Gear?

The faces look a lot different in MGS2, but Kojima's guys have this history of basing the characters off of hollywood actors. If you take a look at Metal Gear 2 (MSX), basically every character is easily recognizeable (even in radio form). Mel Gibson = Solid Snake, Sean Connery = Big Boss, and so on. I think that's one of the reasons why he would never allow the game to be released overseas.
