Metal Gear Solid Delta Releases August 28th, 2025

The first volume was emulated. I can't imagine emulating a PS3 game is possible on PS5 hardware and it will be an actual remaster.

It wasn't emulated. They were gen9aware releases which recently got a resolution bump a few months ago after initially launching at 720p.

Yeaaaa....fine...

I'm here to hate and question the hype, that base scene at 0:16 and hangar afterwards look so barren and unlike PS2 version upscaled + reshade. Looks soulless as fuck to me.

Looks fuckin awesome! Day one fo sho

I never really gave MGS 3 a fair shot. I remember buying Subsistence at one point back in the day but gave up pretty quick as I didn't have the patience.

20+ years later i think Im ready

This looks fucking amazing, but it sucks that it's so far away. I feel like every time we see something new it looks better and better especially the character models. Reminds me of how SH2R looked better and better every time, and with how it turned out that's a good thing.

Yeah this is the first MGS3 trailer that really WOWed me. Looks awesome, the previous trailers seemed rough.

Looks amazing and skyrocketed onto my preorder list, I'm fine delaying it as long as necessary. Get it right like SH2

I guarantee the longer then expected development time is due to them realizing they had to rebalance the entire game around the new camera and controls.

Enemy a.i., line of sight, health, etc. I'm no game developer and this is just speculation but it makes sense.

Edit: I'm an average skilled MGS player but it's my favorite series.
Returning fans like me (& probably even new players) would surely wipe the floor with this game were they to hand over the same challenges that the original game had while equipping us with the player agency of MGSV.

I'm not the first one to bring this up but I don't think it can be overstated. If this is the case, they should be better prepared to remake even older games in the series like MGS & MGS2.

People need to stop doubting Konami with these remakes.

First trailers:
"looks rough"
"looks like shit"
"[insert franchise here] is dead"

Later trailers:
"looks... great?"
"ok we are so back"

Game releases:
"GAME OF THE YEAR!"
"holy fuck [insert developer here] redeemed!"

Well they definitely didn't deserve to be given the benefit of the doubt with how they abandoned gaming for so long

This is the cycle for nearly every game, not just Konami's games. People lead with the negatives.

It's why I think it's a much smarter idea for companies in today's age to do reveals much closer to their release window.

Honestly I placed a preorder for the Deluxe edition in Amazon UK because it's where it was available. I'm a big fan so probably I would have bought it even if it turns out to be a turd but the fact that appears to be a good game is definitely good news.

I have a sealed copy of the collection they released for PS5 but I haven't felt like playing them because of all the bad reviews.

I'm hyped.

Now if the new BF turns out to be a good game (or at least decent) I'm set for the year.

Trailer looks great, actually it's probably even overselling it given that environments and gameplay will be 1:1.
I think I'm getting it later this year.

This has new gameplay features so its not really a 1:1 remake. They do give option to use the old gameplay but it won't be the default way.

Good to hear. Hopefully they'll streamline the camo and wound treatment systems. As cool as they were at the time it was always very clunky.

Someone catch me up on the story so far . . .

It's the first in the series chronologically so there's not a ton to catch up on. There's a small special forces group of freaks that were American heroes in ww2, led by a woman called The Boss. They became disillusioned after the war and stole a prototype, short range nuclear weapon and defected to the USSR.

Meanwhile, The Boss's protégé, Snake, is sent into the USSR to extract a Scientist who is defecting to the USA.

All other relevant backstory and motivations are revealed throughout the game so I wouldn't want to spoil.

I was halfway joking cause I know it's convoluted story. But you explained it good so far. Thanks! I've played most MGS games but never even tried to follow the storyline.

I kinda figured lol MGS 3 is one of the less convoluted stories in the series, thankfully. Probably second only to MGS.

Not counting the first 2 Metal Gear games..

If I'm playing this again I'm killing the end when you first can while people are pushing him in the wheelchair. Never doing that sniper battle again.

Aw it's so fun though. A tense game of cat and mouse. Was one of my favorites back in the day.

Maybe the best stealth-based boss fight ever?

Not messing with the system clock.
You can also just wait a couple days. It doesn't take long iirc

To be honest, i think it felt so difficult because of the TVs of the era and the image quality. Replaying the battle in the Master Collection felt much easier.

How has no one posted this yet?

I'm literally in just because of Ape Escape.

It's teased in the trailer at the end so everyone should already be aware Snake vs Monkey is returning.

Guarantee it will be a PS5 (and PC?) exclusive mode, given it's using a Sony IP.

Oh, I didn't see that there was a trailer, I just found the pics with Piposaru.

They've done that once though

Where is the marketing for this game? It is a freaking Metal Gear Solid AAA game. Is the hype gone without Kojima, the hypeman?

I'm definitely getting this but as a teacher... that date... sucks 😅

September is crazy busy, especially the first few weeks.

I'm actually glad it's a long way out. This needs time and I am happy that they're going to push it out longer to fix any bugs or defects and, hopefully, iron out any optimization issues. This game deserves to be perfect at launch.

Konami is firing on all cylinders:
Silent hill 2 remake
Mgs3 remake
Suikoden 1&2 remaster

Based times for us fellow chads.
