Refresh my memory, Miller here is the same Miller that's killed off screen in MGS1, right? It's not some asinine thing where it's his dad but looks exactly like him like with Huey?
Yes, it's Master Miller.

Where? How? Link?!
Miller with one way convos over codec
Little bit of a disconnect. He will talk back in a cutscene but not during gameplay...
and we all know why -_-
Probably the well-known fact that Kiefer was too expensive and so the whole game was designed around him not saying much.Because it's what Peace Walker did?
Yo, I didn't know this game had a demo at E3. What's the point of having a horse when you can have the D-Walker?
I wonder if it costs more to drop D Walker than it does to drop the horse?Yo, I didn't know this game had a demo at E3. What's the point of having a horse when you can have the D-Walker?

Good point. I'm sure they each have their own functionalities that gives one an advantage over another.Because hanging off the side of D Walker isn't stealth. They still see a giant fucking robot skating across the desert!

The more I see of this game the more I'm not sure I want to buy it it's just seems soo big with a lot of pointless stuff.
But I need to know what happens in the story and i don't want to find out with a lets play.
I have the game preordered for D1, but i must say i'm much less hyped than what i thought.
First because i'm not sold on the open-world design, i admit i would have greatly preffered a tighter, more linear game like past MGSs.
And second, i think this game has like way too much systems: companions, weapon and equip customization, Mother Base etc.
I know i'm the kind of player that don't like those aspects, i hope i'll be able to ignore them without hindering the whole experience too much.
I shall see, but at least Metal Gear is back babe.
Wait, you found this whole demo "pointless"? Have you played a MGS before? Like really really play?
I'm in the same boat. Don't get me wrong the game looks fantastic but I prefer linear games too. All the videos that explains the mechanics are scary to me, this is too big. Too many things to take care of. I just want to grab the controller, have fun and be entertained by the usually convoluted Kojima's story.
Haha yeah I know I was just being sarcastic. It has been stated in game impressions that Kiefer talks a lot in cassette tapes.

You buy it and they send you one of the Nvidia promotional codes, and you redeem it through Nvidias website to your steam account.

Oh Ive heard of that place. One of those shady key suppliers. I thought you wouldnt get your code until the day-of. They sent the nvidia voucher to you straight away from this listing?

yes, and also yesIt has been stated in game impressions that Kiefer talks a lot in cassette tapes.

It looked and sounded like it could in that demo. Big Boss drove right up behind that soldier and he didn't even notice it. The narrator also said it's a great way of moving fast, but silently.
yes, and also yes
decisions on more minimalist story telling and a quieter protagonist were probably in place long before kiefer was ever signed to the project. kojima citing the road warrior as an inspiration for the game makes this very clear.
Finally got around to watching this and my god its better than i ever expected.
My only worry at this point is for the story to suffer since i enjoy that in MGS games, also would be nice to have some unique environments. Everything seems like its segmented into Base, Jungle or Desert.
Question:
Also, am i correct in thinking that Mother Base isnt subjected to invaders and only the FOBs you build are? I could have sworn they said mother base would come under attack by AI at one point and be part of the game which is why you still have to build security for it.

You don't get all buddies right from the start. I imagination you start with D Horse, and midway you might have built D Walker and get to use it.Yo, I didn't know this game had a demo at E3. What's the point of having a horse when you can have the D-Walker?

I might not use D-walker at all, just don't find it appealing and especially not that stealthy
Yeah, Kojima has a huge love for Mad Max. He saw Fury Road over 5 times if his twitter is any indication.
Honestly, I loved the story and codecs in previous MGS but I wouldnt mind a more muted system of cassette tapes.
Can you listen to them Bioshock style? In game, or does it restrict you to menus while they play out?

In other news, I just spent like three hours today extracting every last living soul from Camp Omega in the Ground Zeroes mission on Hard to try and take care of my MGSV craving. I have no idea if all those soldiers I lugged around are going to be carried over to MGSV, but it couldn't hurt![]()
I did that the other day. I don't think it counts since you get no points and it doesn't affect the scoreboard at the end. There's nothing telling you that you did it at all.
Yeah, I noticed that, too. I imagine only the POWs you rescue might make it through to MGSV, since they're the only ones the after-mission stats screen acknowledges, but I suppose we won't find out until MGSV releases.
It seems possible, maybe even likely, that Mother Base will come under attack at some point in the story. But yeah, that would only seem be by AI. A player can't ever go onto your main deck and take DD, for instance, it seems.
Kojima did talk about having visitors on your Mother Base a while back, so there might be the possibility of friendly players being able to visit your main Mother Base.
yeah I'm looking forward to listening to tapes when I visit mother base or during free roam. You can listen to them at any time, it's a really cool way to take in the story while playing. I suspect it will work even better in TPP than it did in GZ, where you could listen but weren't given much room to work with in terms of ground to cover. I imagine riding horseback and listening to Ocelot describe his passion for Spaghetti Westerns or finding a hideout to chill at while I listen to Kaz talk about being played as if he were a piano or fiddle. Will be super sweet.
is it just me or has the hype for this toned down a bit?
