Metal Gear Solid V: Gamescom Gameplay Demo

Ehr.. I'm not sure that I really want to save this post of yours for future reference :\

I will not post anything regarding the outcome of the poster or my cats. Consider this the last that will be said of the matter, and let it be forgotten >_>

Has anyone ever asked about the level editing tools Kojima teased at TGS way back? I think they were still deciding on whether they wanted to make those available to users.

I can't believe we're so close to this game being released ^_^

So close, but yet so far away..

Well, I'm generally not to fond of when they break games up and release them separately, especially in this case, selling us a prologue for 30 bucks. Maybe I'll give it a rent though.

Bear in mind that without Ground Zeroes, we would have had to wait another year and a half for any sort of update on what the new Metal Gear will be like. Ground Zeroes is a huge game in its own right (much bigger than MGS2's tanker by comparison.)

Everything you heard about GZ being a demo or just a prologue is a gross underselling of how great a game it actually is. I've somehow sunk about 40 hours into it so far and I'm going back to it tonight because this wait for TPP is just too friggin sluggish.

I can understand TheSpaceBetween's point. I waited until it was $10. I can promise you Konami forced Hideo Kojima to separate the game.

However, I also spent 25 hours on Ground Zeros. The gameplay is amazing and it got me very hyped for the Phatom Pain.

I can completely understand as well, as I know that it looks like a cash grab.

On the other hand, it gave us a small portion of Metal Gear early, helped keep MGS in development (because it's abundantly clear that Konami aren't happy about the development costs to begin with,) and was a fantastic experience in its own right!

People latched onto the demo argument and suddenly boom. Outcry.

My guess is that
you play the first section of the game in Big Boss' coma. No Ground Zeroes. The game starts, you're awoken by a man with a bandaged up face. Likely the young psycho mantis type character is manipulating Big Boss' mind. You escape the hospital, find Ocelot, have a baddass horse back battle with the "man on fire" as your enemy. You make your way to a lighthouse on the coast. May possibly find some manifestation of The Boss there, then you wake up. Back in the hospital. A nurse finds you, Dr. Madnar tells you what happened and then onwards from there I can only assume come across Ocelot who has begun building Mother Base, and then go rescue Miller.

Probably 100% wrong. :D

See, now you've gone and done it... If THIS doesn't happen, I'll be disappointed!!!!!!

What ? When ? How ??

Yup! http://www.metalgearinformer.com/?p=16518

True! It was great to get a sample of the game and I'm very happy to play it. I just think the initial price point is a little expensive.

I personally liked Dead Rising 2: Case Zero (came out before Dead Rising 2), and I remembered it being $15 (I could be wrong). It gave a taste of the game and I sunk in 20 hours of gameplay in it. Regardless, I'm glad to have enjoyed MGS Ground Zeros.

I don't expect any big surprises at the very start.

He will wake up in Cyprus [with maybe few flashback of him burning after destruction of GZ motherbase], and real mindfucks will start arriving during his escape from hospital.

One thing that I really want to see in the start of MGSV is the intro by Kyle Cooper. The same guy who make the intro from MGS2 or MGS3.

I can be a big man and avoid watching it....."plays video against will, breaks down and starts crying at the thought of how close yet far we are to release"

It's going to drive me crazy hearing them say EF OH BE for FOB. In the military we just call it a "FAHB" or 'fɒb

That's weird. I thought it was just the intro for TPP.
I already played it but it's good to know this so when I recommend it to others I'll know that GZ is necessary for the story.

Well pre-ordering TPP gets you a free copy of GZ anyway, that's kind of why they're doing that, they're giving you every opportunity to own GZ so you can play it and see the beginning of the story before TPP comes out.
It's basically the tanker chapter of MGS2 all over again, but since it was released as it's own thing as a sort of teaser, it would seem ridiculous to get a free copy of GZ and then TPP maks you play through the GZ segment anyway.

GZ is more of a gap filler between Peace Walker and Phantom Pain anyway.

Is this on Steam or is it a promotion of a store? Never mind. I'm assuming it's Steam you're talking about.

Didn't know about the free GZ copy with pre-order of TPP. That makes sense I suppose.

I pre-ordered TPP the other day so now the only thing left to do is wait for September!

Speaking of Ground Zeroes does anyone know when we can redeem the code that came with it. I tried looking on the website that tells you about it but that site is no longer available.

Hehe, me too. Honestly, I'm just piecing together bits from trailers - I've probably watched them about 20 times at this point. The majority of stuff shown related to the intro
possibly coma
sequence is shown off in the first big reveal trailer. It's pretty obvious -
I mean, he wakes up twice to two different scenarios.
Kojima Pro will throw us a curve ball or twenty though, I know it.

So, about that DLC code we got with ground zeroes, PSN still does not accept it. Will it be redeemable only when TPP is out ?

The dream is dead, they haven't talked about it so just assume it's no longer there.

“People who own GZ will be able to play a different mission(s) at Camp Omega in TPP. That’s the current plan. There’s something of a big feature involved. It’s never been done in the games industry before. So I can’t go into detail about it, but I think when you experience it for yourselves you’ll be surprised. It’s something that’s only possible through video games.”

Now that's intriguing !

Well, Konami UK says it will be available when TPP launches apparently, but it's an old page :

I think it was just a code you used on the Konami site to link your PSN account to it or something. The game has been shown to have an "Import Ground Zeroes Data" menu option so I don't think it's necessary anymore.

That's for your GZ save file since you can extract soldiers and prisoners that carry over.

I'm slightly worried about that code..I pre-ordered Ground Zeroes at my local EB, but went there on release date and found out it had been pushed back 2 weeks in AUS, so I bought it from the US PSN store and played on my EU account. Not sure whether I can buy TPP from the EU store and get anything crossing over, or if I should play it safe and buy it from US PSN.

That's different. The DLC code states "redeem on PSN for exclusive TPP content"

For the digital versions of psn did you need to do anything? I know they said the extra content was only available for a limited time. Was there a date where it expired, because I haven't heard anything.

I'm not sure what you guys are referring to but GZ has no DLC, there's just the game, any exclusive content in TPP comes from completing GZ and getting soldiers/prisoners imported to TPP.
The only exclusive content would be whatever stuff that comes with pre-ordering TPP or getting Collector's edition etc.

You get a dlc code for TPP with PAL GZ copies that states that you can redeem it on PSN when TPP releases.

It's a bit old,but says otherwise.

The first-print release of METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES will include a KONAMI Core Registration Code for those who purchased it within the United States, Canada, and Latin America. Upon entering this code, you will be able to retrieve exclusive DLC for METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN upon its release by accessing your vault within the KONAMI Core Website. PS3 users will receive a DLC Code that will allow them to download an exclusive trailer for METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN. We highly recommend that you view this trailer upon completion of METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES.

For those who purchased METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES outside of the regions specified above (i.e. Europe) — the code provided within will not be valid until METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN is released. Please store this code in a safe location and redeem it upon the release of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN.

For those who had purchased the game digitally, regardless of region, the entitlement to the DLC received from registering the game via KONAMI Core will be linked to either your PlayStation or Xbox Live account – METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN will check that the game is in your purchase history, and will grant rights to that DLC when the game is released.

The code comes with all retail versions of GZ on the form of a Konami Core code. Digital GZ owners will have access to this content as well. The code is entered online, and around the game's release, Konami will give us redeemable codes (for PSN or XBL). This can be accessed (when ready) at our Konami Core account page.

I agree and that's why I never bit on Ground Zeroes. But here I am, owning both Ground Zeroes and pre-purchasing The Phantom Pain. The best part is, though, The Phantom Pain was included with my GTX 960, which I was going to buy eventually anyway, and receiving Ground Zeroes as a gift from a generous fellow who got Ground Zeroes as a pre-order bonus and didn't need it. Just gotta play your cards right!
And be a lucky bastard sometimes
