Cipher's linguistic parasite 'infects' our army, or Kid Mantis mind-controls them all, turning the entirety of Mother Base against Big Boss. We're forced to sneak through a hostile Mother Base, patrolled by nightmarish, zombified versions of the soldiers we've recruited throughout the game. Maybe it's implied that Big Boss himself might be hallucinating, just for an added mindfuck. Is anything real? Do you go in guns blazing and maybe lose your own army? Is there even a chance you'll be able to 'fix' everyone? What happens when you meet the badasses like Ocelot and Quiet?

they are FOXDIE test subjects? experemental nanomachines? honestly im pretty sure those "zombies" are experemental gnome soldiers under nanomachine control (possibly controled by a experemental AI) that will eventually turn into the AI we destroy at the end of MGS4

This sounds great, but
the ending HAS to be infiltrating Mother Base as Solid Snake. TPP's story "ends" and the epilogue is an abbreviated run through of MG1. Has to be.

You have absolutely no idea how hype I'd be for that. The one thing I wish Kojima could do before being separated from Konami is Remake MG1 and 2 as either stand alone Ground Zeroes-esque titles, or just DLC Missions/Expansions to TPP.
But I think if it was in the game we'd see a bunch of the people from the Journalist preview event thing with big-ass grins

So I've not read the entire thread but I've seen people saying it's worth doing every side mission and saving all the prisoners in ground zeroes because they will unlock people at mother Base in mgs 5. Has this been confirmed?

You should treat it as nothing is confirmed except that you get "something" for importing a 100% GZ save.
So get that 100% and rescue all the prisoners just to be sure.

Because, you see, Big Boss does bad things in this game, yeah?
So we have to be beaten over the head with the the fact that he is a "demon," you know? Because he can't just commit terrible deeds to be a bad guy, has has to grow a stupid fucking horn to visually show us that he is a DEMON! Otherwise we couldn't possibly comprehend his actions.
I'll be covering that stupid fucking horn with the bandana as soon as possible.
The only thing that has been confirmed is that you get 4 sets of staff for fulfilling 4 different criteria. The one regarding the save transfer does not indicate that all you'll get is two staff members.
I think it should be seen more as "You'll get these special edition mother base staff as a reward for going through the trouble of importing a previous GZ save."
If you do get the extracted POWs, as well as The Eye and The Finger, that should be considered the main data that gets transferred, with the additional staff being "unlocked" as a reward for doing it in the first place.
I mean if you assume that you don't get anything but those staff (as the release didn't mention anything BUT those 4 pairs of staff) then you should also assume that you don't get to go to Camp Omega in TPP for having imported GZ save data. Which is wrong.

On an unrelated note, ok I can't resist asking this: As only a mild Metal Gear fan I haven't played everything in the series but a prediction for TPP I was thinking of was that
Skullface will be Gene from PW. Does that make any sense? If it's been definitively found out I don't want to know. I just want to know if it's plausible. My line of thinking was he said he and Snake go way back. "Way" back is probably a little much if it IS him, but I wasn't aware of anyone else that it could be given he is a leader too and not just some random boss from another game. Also if Gene were alive he would have it out for Zero.

Not when it's jammed into my forehead.
The only thing we know is unique guards and all POWs will carry over to TPP, what we don't know is things like costumes, MGS1 snake, Raiden etc. We don't know if 100% matters or if regular guards matter or what.
The Motherbase app had things like unlocking completely impossible characters (Such as MGS3 Cobra unit people) for completing trials in GZ under a certain time or setting certain records, I highly doubt TPP will go that far, but this is the sort of mindset Kojima Productions had for MGSV so I feel like it's better to be safe than sorry.
I enjoy extracting every guard from the Easy & Hard mode of each mission in GZ and if that pays off, fantastic, if not, oh well I still had fun.

My current theory on the plot is, a part of it is going to deal a lot
with Zero / The patriots cloning program and the idea they experimented with cloning people other then Big Boss.
Maybe those borg looking people from some of the trailers are weird clones. And all those bodies with tumours and stuff in the E3 trailer are actually failed clones.
I dunno. Seems like something they could have fun with. Maybe the boss squad are all slightly off clones of 1 person or something.
