Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain PC performance thread

So is this as well-optimized as Ground Zeroes? Anyone playing it on lower specs?

I'm playing on a 970, so I'm not the best sample, but it's been a rock-solid 1080p/60FPS experience for me with every setting maxed out.

I've seen others in this thread on lower end hardware saying it runs even more smoothly for them than Ground Zeroes. Seems to me like it's a winner of a PC port.

Whenever I have post processing on anything higher than low, certain things start to 'flicker' every time I move the camera, mainly trees. I can face one and stand still; it looks fine, but the moment I move it gets this instant darker look to it and then stops when I stop the camera.

Anyone know what to do?

Any help would be appreciated, it's really annoying.

Am I likely to get a solid 60fps running it at 2560x1440 downsampled to 1080p @ max settings, HBAO+ enabled and motion blur/DOF turned off?

EDIT: Sorry, on a single 970, i7 4790K.

Solid 60FPS here, max in game settings.
Win 10
1080p
i7 3770K@4.2GHZ
16GB RAM 1600MHZ
EVGA GTX 780 Classified 3GB
Installed on an SSD

Still on the first mission after the prologue, but it's been flawless so far, just wish I could unlock it to 144FPS.

According to the forum posts achievements work fine but any update will overwrite the executable so this approach is far from ideal. But I expect there'll be a universal approach soon. Jelly of everybody who can enjoy the game at 21:9 :D

Yeah, hoping for a flawless widescreen fix, that program is pretty seamless. Thanks.

I was tempted to buy it just to see how it ran on my 750 ti but the UK price is a joke LOL

Will wait for more impressions, GZ ran at 1080/60 w/ PS4 equivalent settings (with a few more things) so I'm interested to see how this'll run.

Tell me about it :p I was going to get the steam pre purchase edition cause it comes with ground zeroes but thanks to the steam app bugging out on my mobile I couldn't buy it in time, on Amazon the ps4 esitiom edition is cheaper than PC too, blasphemy!

Moar PC screenshots please.

I would but for some reason, I can't get Steam overlay to work with this game. Can't take pictures with Steam picture function either. Anyone know a solution? This game looks absolutely crazy by the way. I could never dream of running a game like this on 60 fps on my PC.

Edit: Gonna boot up old Fraps again. Time to take out the camera.

I have an i5-2500k and 7850 and I have everything on High except Textures, Texture Filtering, Model Detail, and Lighting are on Extra High and I've got locked 60fps at 1080p, not a single drop. It's incredibly optimized, performs even better than GZ for me.

I'd say you'd probably be the best example to tell you the truth. 970 seems to be the perfect card for this game and 1080p.

With that card? Who knows.

Hmm. With my 970 the game sometimes drops from 60 to low 50's with everything maxed and 1080p. This is the very first village in Afghanistan, which I assume is far from the most stressing areas of the game. A little disappointing. Which option should I lower?

Also, any way to change R1/L1 and R2/L2? I hate aiming with the DS3 triggers. Wish I could raise the right analog sensitivity too.

Moar PC screenshots please.

Maxed out settings. Few pics from Prologue, 1st mission and some free roam.

It's very well optimized, basically the two settings that destroy the frame rate according to the Nvidia guide (btw, thanks Andy) are Effects and Post Processing. I'm perfectly ok with my 970, a friend is playing it on a GTX 960 and even with those at extra high the game never goes under ~50fps when demanding effects are on screen (otherwise it's smooth 60fps) according to him. If he turns them down to high it's a locked 60fps experience even on a 200$ card.

I think shadows, post-processing and effects are 3 of the biggest hogs.

I'm a single 970 user as well and I've got:

Shadows on high (don't want to go any lower)
Post-processing on low (downsampling from 1440p is better than the crappy AA and i'm forcing HBAO+ through the nvidia panel)
Effects are on high
Volumetric clouds are off (how often do you look at the sky, really?)
Depth of field is off completely (can't stand BB blurring when you move the camera)
Motion blur is medium.
Leave everything else maxed out.

All of that gets me a solid 60fps.

Are you downsampling ? My MGS V does not look that clean.

In fact aliasing is pretty nasty.

Yeah, game runs at 2715x1527 resolution downsampled to 1080p.

Edit:
Would appear that imgur compresses the images though. Going to use another filehosting site next time.

Create account to imgur, this way they allow you to upload .png pics without compressions being done.

So guys this is NOT a huge issue by any means but I'm wondering if anyone's found out a good way to tighten the deadzone a bit? The default one is just a hair too big than I'd like it to be on DS4.

On Ground Zeroes I used a third-party program that drops an xinput dll that wraps some functions and lets you set an anti-deadzone, it's called Duranzo - but I don't think that will work on native DS4... and I was wondering if there was a better method. I'll give it a shot here in a bit regardless.

Wonderful to hear. I've got it waiting on my PS4 right now but I'll probably double-dip once the price drops, especially if it's as replayable as GZ

GTX 770 (2gb)
i5-3570
1080p
Runs fine at 60 fps most times, but i dial down AO and Shadows to high settings to maintain it.

Damn...I can't resist now. Bought

Around places like character model hair there's this weird shadowy crosshatch-like effect. Any way to get rid?
