"Metal Slug's first foray onto the GBA is a resounding success. Even though Metal Slug Advance is a brand-new game, it has all the sights, sounds, and charm of the NeoGeo games it's based on. The addition of a card-collecting quest doesn't get in the way of the classic run-and-gun design at all. Instead, it gives players one more incentive to play through each level multiple times, as if the goofy animations and big explosions weren't already incentive enough."

Woah, nice. Didn't even know this was coming out

I recently played the old classics on my friend's emulator. Great series. Better than Contra, imo. Maybe I'll check this out once the releases slow down

IMO, it's a great game, but I hate the life bar that they put in there. Sure, it makes it more like the NGPC Metal Slug games, but I was hoping they would keep it true to the original. Still a great game, and looks awesome on my DS.

The animation obviously is anywhere near on-par with the original Neo Geo games, but it still seems like a pretty damn good original Metal Slug.

It's only an 8-meg game. No wonder.

I agree with everything this man says.

hmm...It really did look great to me at first, as it menages to retain a lot of the graphics and sound from the original. First impression was great, but then you realize the level design is very poor, and the game is pretty short. Could have been great.
