Finally! A female Dr. Who!

I'm calling it, a new meme will be born.

Someone's gonna screen shot a specific scene with this abomination, and you'll be seeing it for a whole month...

If you look at his face it really didn't change that much. Makeup and the straight hair gave made a huge difference in the perception. His discoid lupus caused his nose to never heal from the initial surgeries and as a result he was constantly losing tissue - yes, it was actually deteriorating and it was probably humiliating. He was actually building up his nose in 2009 using tissue from his ear. I don't know why he went with straight hair in his final years but he had to wear a wig anyway because of the Pepsi commercial injury, which was followed by a lot of botched surgeries to fix it and excruciating pain. Maybe it protected his skin better from the sun because with vitiligo he was more susceptible to skin cancer, I don't know.

I think under the circumstances MJ looked pretty good and I'm never going to judge him for how his looks changed.

I really appreciate this post.

He had a skin condition called Vitiligo, don't believe all the racist nonsense you read on the internet.
I think he never would have bleached his skin if not for vitiligo. But I also think there is some level of commitment that went into changing his features to be more white once he had started on that path

I'm pretty sure this is Britain to blame.

This looks like some sort of joke movie/TV show or whatever the hell it is based on the trailer. MJ looking like shit might be on purpose, hah.
Just watched the trailer, you're absolutely right LOL. Carry on then, Brits.
This shit could end up being hilarious.

He actually kind of looks like him there, except for the eyebrows and obviously skin colour.

not sure why but this is a really humanizing photo of MJ. maybe it's just that i've never really seen him in a plain top, not striking a pose or anything. also because it's a high res image of a time before he had drastic work done to his face, and well he just looks like a guy. i grew up a big fan of MJ and he's always just sort of been other worldly, but in this pic he looks like someone I'd see down the street.

Did it also give him a more narrow nose?

Celebrities with too much money overdoing plastic surgery is not unheard of.

He said in interviews that he's black and proud of being black.

I'm guessing that this is some crap about western beauty standards being oriented towards white people or something like that.

It's been axed.

Sky said in a statement today (January 13): “We have taken the decision not to broadcast Elizabeth, Michael And Marlon, a half hour episode from the Sky Arts Urban Myths series, in light of the concerns expressed by Michael Jackson’s immediate family.

“We set out to take a light-hearted look at reportedly true events and never intended to cause any offence. Joseph Fiennes fully supports our decision.”

Seeing as his skin was white, he got a nose job+, and he straightened his hair, it's ok if it's a white actor. The only problem is that the dude doesn't look like him.
Edit-nevermind

I don't get the response in here. Sure, the show itself might be funny, but this portrayal of him in this episode is fucking horrendously disrespectful. Dude looks nothing like him and I'm not sure it's time to make light of his death given the context. If it were a serious/respectful portrayal, and his family was cool with it, that would make sense.

It's telling that his family didn't want this to happen.

Bizarre decision all around to even begin this project..

CNN also has a quote from Jackson, via Oprah in 1993:

"Why would I want a white child to play me? I'm a black American. I'm proud to be a black American. I am proud of my race. I am proud of who I am."

I mean, either way, it was a hack job of an attempt to portray MJ based on "comical" circumstances. I don't see why his family wouldn't be horrified.

How many actors looked like MJ in 2001?

Considering this is just a small, British, 30 minute TV comedy.. I'm surprised how much this blew up.

They really should have replaced Fiennes when the initial upset happened before filming began.

If they ever make a good Michael Jackson movie I actually wouldn't mind if he was CGI Rogue One style but better. I can't think of anyone who looks like him even during his Thriller days.
