Do people here actually believe the FTC having a chance at their approach? i know the majority here is console wars and shit posting but there has to be a common sense hidden behind all that. You guys don't really think this will end good for FTC, right?
The deal will be approved. I think ftc will lose and ms will close the deal after that ignoring cat and cma.

But xbox execs are shitheads fanboys and that's what is being exposed.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Exactly.
"Zenimax games are still available on PS and online games are still supported."
I didn't see any deal they wanted to make with PS for TES VI.

True, and this is where FTC's case should falter as well. The difference in how Zenimax's games were committed/contracted to release post acquisition is completely different than what MS is proposing for Acti-Bliz.

It was an argument already and other regulators didn't care and so won't a judge in US, yes.

Yep. EU and even CMA hand-waived the foreclosing aspect of the acquisition through without any worry.

Not sure why some folks are clinging on to that already.

I wonder how much Microsoft has invested in their X-Cloud technology... You know I wonder if it were me I could just consider axing my excloud business as a concession to passing through the Activision acquisition. I mean the content that would come from acquiring this publisher has to be worth more than cloud streaming in the long run? Maybe? I don't know...

They have azure, so it's easy for them to invest on xcloud unlike Sony.

I know but I'm saying maybe if I'm Microsoft I put on paper that I won't operate xcloud for Xbox customers for the next 5 plus years till my competitors grow and I'll offer them game licensing for up to 10 years etc etc. That way I'm technically not really even the market directly and others have a chance to grow more easily. You could always offer azure as a service and bundle it with Xbox/Acti game licensing. Allow a small but fair cut of mtx in supported games. Etc etc. Instead of trying to lead the charge myself full bore. That way I'm not the biggest threat I'm Just the biggest supporter and can still make some money on the back end that I can use to find further game development for my newly acquired bajillion studios.

MS didn't become a trillion dollar company by operating like that.
Becoming N1 means more customers and more money.

Off topic, but this is crazy. A bright green light from Jupiter.

Starfield Marketing starting to ramp up i see.... XBOX Starfield Gaming Station on Jupiter - All 2023 Xbox Fan Fest members are automatically entered into a raffle - x50 seats available for a free space flight to Jupiter to get your hands on zero gravity Starfield before release date! You heard it here first folks.

So. if you are FTC and you are trying to fragment a gaming market market to inflate Microsoft's position in said market (high-performance console market) and their position in that market is main reason to block a merger, you are using court case that literally said that X company (Brown) and Y company (Kinney) are part of same market despite the fact that X company is making medium priced shoes and Y company is making low priced shoes?

Please, continue. I'm sure that argument would be successful in front of federal judge.
My answer is already in what you quoted.

I dont understand the whole mess. So the FTC, who is supposed to be about competitive markets, is ok with Sony maintaining 70% market share? How exactly does Sony ending up with 80% market share protect consumers?

Plus they expect MS to buy studios in an attempt to compete and have exclusives (the key to selling consoles) but then not make the games exclusive? What a bunch of bs.

Why are you excusing away why MS has done so poorly in the video game's space. Plus...................

It's only 70% if you act like Nintendo doesn't exist. Many of your Xbox fanboys seem to always exclude Nintendo when you talk about market share. I wonder why?.....
