Microsoft is Looking to Make another Bethesda Size Acquisition

"Last year, Microsoft acquired Bethesda in one of the biggest video game buyouts ever. The Xbox creator purchased Bethesda's parent company ZeniMax for a total of $7.5 billion. In doing so, it granted itself exclusive ownership over popular gaming franchises such as Fallout and Skyrim, and whatever else Bethesda creates in the future. It was the kind of move many Xbox fans hoped Microsoft would make, as the console suffered from not having as many popular, exclusive games as the PlayStation.

From the sounds of recent rumors, Microsoft isn't satisfied with having just Bethesda. Apparently, the corporation is looking to add more big-name video game developers to its roster. Exactly what companies Microsoft could be interested in remains a mystery, and there's nothing in recent grapevines suggesting developers are looking to sell. Even if there was, they would be rumors like this one, and would also need to be taken with a grain of salt.

well that's worrisome :-/

edit: and before we get Xbox fanboys in here cheering about it because of Game Pass, the problem is this is the start

you're happy now but what about when Sony responds? or worse when Google & Amazon start buying up publishers because they don't want to risk Microsoft getting everything

now you have a future where you have to have Amazon Luna to play Ubisoft games & Google Stadia for Activision Blizzard while Microsoft owns Bethesda & EA with Sony having snatched up Square-Enix

it's bad for the industry & gamers

It is Sega right?
Because some Twitter dude said so? 😂
Brad Sams usually correct regarding MS. Not that correct regarding everything else.

Then again people mentioned that the deal might not be released until the next year, so no need for premature erection :messenger_tears_of_joy:

All Brad Sams has said is this and a smiley.

The rest is Twitter randos.

Would be cool if they used their money to actually build and enhance their own studios so we get more games. Seems all they are is paying bilions of money to just keep PS owners from games.

As someone who has a PC, this is a waste to me since I'd be getting these games anyway.

Matt's an insider who posts over on Era

So basically a Twitter rando, just on another form of social media. 😂

Bad site writes bad rumormongering article because MATT said so, and people start chugging that koolaid. This kind of stuff is getting hilarious.

I'm outta here, have fun 😂

This coming Wednesday: MS buys SEGA, Nintendo, Sony PS, and XBOX. Yes, XBOX. Because buying everyone is not enough, they have too much money to burn they're buying even their own gaming division. Now that's a war chest.

As much money MS has it's nothing compared to Apple. Just this quarter they banked 5 Bethesda's. MS start buying up studios then expect Apple, Amazon, Google and even Sony to buy big too.

It's more like Microsoft doesn't want a Double Helix situation ever again where they prop up a studio only for it to get swiped by someone else. Also that they realize that now is the time to go hard on purchases since it's only a matter of time until the other tech giants still figuring out their gaming platforms like Apple, Google, Amazon start shelling out as much money as possible to secure content.

Sure, if you want to be in denial that's fine. It'd probably be better to just accept it now though...
