Microsoft making at least four new IPs

So ppl here are actually waiting for a shooter or two to be announced for xbox so they can decide not to buy it?

Wasn't there a thread about how PS3 has more shooters than xbox? *shrugs*.

This is how I see most gaming websites and forums.

Could one of our technical gurus replace Duck Season with Xbox and Rabbit Season with Playstation?

Man people are really touchy. The jokes are warranted considering the last time they said they had a lot of exclusives to talk about they showed us a bunch of Kinect games that didn't garner a lot of interest. And remember those xbla games? Me either. Or that game that looked a little like God of War? What happened to those games after reveal?

They may have something awesome up their sleeve but recent history suggest you may want to temper your expectations a little expecting 4 blockbuster games.

Kinect Instinct. By microtransactions he means combos will be paid DLC.

Just going to kick back and wait and see. I hope they blow us away with some interesting new titles. The more good games, the merrier. I'll eventually have both consoles anyway, just like I always do.

Year of the PS3, Secret PS3 Game, etc.

Yeah, it's bollocks really. There are people who certainly favor specific platforms, but for the most part, people seem to call out shittiness, regardless of their preference of box.

Anytime someone says GAF is particularly biased one way or the other, it's just confirmation bias.

Hahahahahaha...*breathes*...Hahahahahaha!

On the topic, one of the new IPs must be the AAA shooter the new Microsoft Studio (I don't remember the name...Not Vancouver...nevermind) is allegedly working on. I would think that Rare will be pushing a new license as well...

I was excusing nothing and saying a theory for why people think everyone is out for their system.

Sorry, that last line wasn't directed at you specifically, it was for those making excuses for the trolling. Looking back, I should have put it in the beginning of my post, not after my commentdirected at you.

Sony has more shooters, but they also have a lot more variety.

I'm actually hoping for a real shooter and a real RPG. Halo is trash now and Fable was always trash. Forza is great though so they don't need a new racing franchise.

and on this note, let's discuss what these new could possibly be.
They guy is one of the managers running the "Core" publishing initiative. Almost all the positions have already been filled (Some have been working there for two years signing deals). Most of their joblistings have this signature phrase:
Microsoft Studios has a number of successful core franchises: Halo, Fable, Forza Motorsport, and Gears of War. Our job is to add new blood to this stable of AAA franchises.

There are some different projects floating around:

I really love Crytek, people shit on Crysis 2, and yeah, it was a big step back, but it's still amongst the best of the genre, and a real exclusive from them has to be a very cool push for a first party. If it's still Kinect, I'm not interested, but even if it is, it's going to look incredible.

I hope it's something worth even blinking at at not some abominable "new IP" crap like Kinect Sports. Ever since Kinect, Microsoft has pretty much imploded as a gaming company and the Xbox has become wasteland territory for me. So I hope they can do something new and engaging.

Kinect sports is great. The bowling alone is worth the price of the whole system. I love seeing the replays after the game. Also, since Kinect, how has Microsoft imploded as a gaming company? I know you said "to you" but what types of games did they not deliver on that you were hoping for? I had so many games to play, so many types, so many genres, I just don't have nearly the time to play them all. What is it that you are looking for that ms does not provide as a gaming company? Just curious because Sony and MS are identical to me as far as enjoyment (I play xbox more as I have a ton of xbla games). I own both systems and will own the next two.

Also, I see this new narrative on GAF that MS is losing the "core" gamer. Where the fuck did this start? Unless I'm dead wrong, isn't MS going into the "next generation" with strong sales of the 360, kinect, and xbl subscriptions? Was there some huge ms only dropoff that showed that "core" gamers were tired of ms?

Actually, Banjo Racing or something in a similar vain to Diddy Kong Racing would be awesome. I am guessing they may have missed that boat with Sonic Racing, LBP-Karts etc already out.
There has been two attempts by Rare at a Banjo karting game so it could still be a possibility.

They (Microsoft) will have no choice but to go hardcore heavy during the first 3-4 years at least. Expect a lot of first party, second party contracted stuff during the first half of the generation...
And, Rare workforce, if you read us, bring back Killer Instinct you fools!

Good God, reading the recent Gaf threads about next gen rumors you would think this had turned into N4G.com. 4 out of 5 posts pretty much just trolling fanboys.

I for one am excited for MS to have 4 new IP's. They have invested a lot in a number of new studios so hopefully we will finally start to see the fruits of their labor.

Yeah. It's like watching the trailer. All those great visuals and there is the Kinect fighting - it just does not fit together very well.

Nice work looking this stuff up and compiling it.

Excited about these new IPs. Microsoft is keeping a lot of stuff close to the vest and I think it will work out nicely come E3 when they really start hammering home their argument to be the console of choice next generation. I expect there to be some big time heavy hitters in this lineup too. As somebody who doesn't game nearly as much as I used to (but still partake in AAA games), I'm excited.

Good stuff but I doubt it'll shut up anyone who thinks MS doesnt care about them as a "core gamer".

After Star Wars Kinect and Fable The Journey, isn't it possible that MS has learned a harsh lesson?
Definitely should have. Hopefully it was their version of Five-Hundred and Ninety Nine US Dollars.

Ryse could be Ms' answer to God of War, if handled properly.

Make it a traditional action-adventure and you're good.

Even a first person action game, why not. But with Kinect...it's not going to work.

One would hope.

Though after the hype, interest, and sales of Kinect has died, you'd think they would know not to invest so much into it next Gen. We'll see if they've learned.

Thanks for the gathering of news. The bitching about shooters isn't a MS thing. They've money hatted and put together a ton from the beginning in terms of content, it's as if those don't count. Just look back at Xbox days and compare it to their efforts this gen, what a fucking joke of a comparison. I've no doubt MS will continue this. Just will miss the JRPG support, as I doubt it'll happen again.

As a Nintendo fan, I feel sorry for you Microsoft fans who have to deal with this shit. It's not cool.

As a video game fan, I'm looking forward to seeing what these are, and hope they aren't all shooters.

As someone that likes jokes, the Kinect stuff on the first page was pretty funny. Sorry, guys. I LAUGHED OKAY :(

Didn't they move it to use the traditional controller in lieu of being completely Kinect focused?

Ryse was always said to be some sort of hybrid game using the Kinect and controller, recent rumors have it as a "better with Kinect" game.

Was it ever stated which studios the naughty Dog and Irrational guys MS hired are going to? I don't remember them stating they were for 343I.

Some of them did go to 343i I thought. There were guys from ND and Valve at 343i
