Microsoft Studios (& Partners) Current and Future Landscape

Yeah its one of there few big 3rd Party games for the Scorpio. Also don't expect major new First Party game announcement because this year focus is 3rd Party.

So are you saying not even a Halo announcement? Or something else down the line?

Scorpio
Something Halo related but not Halo 6 (Halo Wars 2 expansion, according to Jez)
Forza 7
Crackdown 3
State of Decay 2
Sea of Thieves
Killer Instinct DLC/Expansion
Minecraft section
AR/VR
Recore Definitive Edition
Scorpio/X1/PC features/Game Pass
Indie section (which may or may not include the next three below)
Cuphead
Below
Ashen
Assassin's Creed
Shadow of Mordor
One unannounced AAA third party title
Ori 2
One unannounced AA title/One unannounced AAA title (one of the two but not both)

No no no....I don't want an AC trailer next week. MS/Ubisoft should save it for their respective E3 conferences. Last year, Watch Dogs 2 was shown before E3 and my interest (especially after watching it) completely deflated. I still haven't played WD2.

Really hoping that they hold the trailers for E3. It's a lot more fun watching the conferences seeing the trailers for the first time as opposed to be spoiled weeks earlier.

The MS/AC marketing deal isn't surprising though and if anything, was expected. I'll assume that FC5 goes to Sony. Either way, can't wait for E3!!!

What third parties, aside from Mordor and assassins? FIFA and Madden generally don't get Microsoft E3 time. What other third parties would be there

If Microsoft doesnt waste time on their keynote with a third party trailer we already saw a day ago (like Fallout 4 in 2015 and BF1 in 2016) its already a win

Well of course Halo 6 is going to get announced but just dont expect like new triple AAA first party new IPs.

The lineup a few posts above isn't bad at all. It's a solid yet expected yet unsurprising list. I wouldn't announce Halo 6 at all. Save it for next year's E3. Announcing Halo 6 will overshadow Crackdown 3 and State of Decay 2 which would be the two games I focus on at E3 if I was Microsoft. Try to build them up instead of knocking them down with a Halo 6 announcement.

I just think Halo 6 will get the Halo 5 treatment. Announced a 1+ years before release. It will also help pad out their new announcements.

I mean it was a no brained to be honest. Unless you think Sony is going to try and pay for marketing rights to every fall game gettting released. AC was pretty much a done deal for MS
Agreed. It is pretty obvious. Just think of the biggest third party games coming this year aside from CoD, BF2, Destiny 2 and RDR2. Assassin's Creed is easily the next biggest.

Microsoft has to have a few first party 2018 games that aren't H6 that they want to tease.

Well. Assuming that it exists, I don't think Ori 2 is coming this year. I think it will be an early 2018 game.

And while it's much less exciting, I think that one of their currently announced games will be delayed to 2018. Either because it's not ready or because they want to pad out the lineup in 2018.

Yeah, probably. Would just prefer to see Microsoft go all out with Crackdown 3 and State of Decay 2 this fall/holiday season instead of them being overshadowed by a Halo 6 announcement.

Everyone knows that Halo 6 is coming so why even bother announcing it when they do have other games that they should be showcasing? Just makes no sense to me.

My guess is Sea of Thieves which I still think is best suited for an early July 2017/2018 release. It just fits perfectly in my opinion.

I hear ya. I just think they will be relying on it as a big announcement for their conference.

I predict one of capcom's rumored three new ips is exclusive to ms. Probably the dead rising team. They could tease that even if it might not be out till 2019

Forza Horizon 4?

They'll announce that next year though.

Also MS really needs a third Forza Spin-off, I'm thinking a sci-fi setting would be awesome.

I also think they need to make the motorsport more appealing to casuals, I'm thinking add Monster Trucks with courses built for them specifically.

Halo 6 is about as close to a sure thing as an unannounced game can be. Plus, they need to announce it so they can tell the world Crackdown 3 will include a beta :D

Also expecting Ori 2 and Sea of Thieves to be 2018 games along with one more mid-tier announcement for that year in a similar mold as Recore.

Microsoft has lost me as a customer if some new or revived IP is not announced.

He specified AAA. If they have fuck all to show once again in terms of new IP/revivals, I think most will be done with Xbox. I believe they will have an indie and a AA, but I wouldn't put it past Spencer to beat last year's shitshow and announce nothing other than Halo, Forza and Ori.

Halo 6 is a no brainer. They gonna end with that for sure. Doesnt matter what.

Exactly. And I'm not sure in what way it would overshadow Crackdown or SoD2, both games releasing this year whereas Halo 6 is late 2018.

Spencer did? But I don't recall him promising that there would be any brand new announcements but I think we all know there will at least be one. Last year SoD2 was a new announcement for example and DR4 in a way as well.

But i wouldn't expect any miracles. You gotta keep in mind that they don't exactly have as many studios as Sony has. If their show consists of gameplay demos of Crackdown, SoD2, Forza 7, Ori 2(or perhaps a new IP by them), indie showcase, Sea of Thieves, new game announcement similar to Ori and a much bigger scale IP announcement. I wouldn't call that a bad show by any means and it certainly doesn't sound unrealistic.

I find it a bit silly to say they will lose you as a customer when they actually got several promising upcoming games for this year. And if there aren't many new game announcements, maybe that will be for E3 next year. Worst case scenario is that their first party doesn't improve a great deal, but you still have the Scorpio where your multiplatform games look and perform the best.

I don't wish for that, but they won't lose me as a customer anytime soon.

Maybe they don't have to be new 3rd party games. Perhaps they'll show updates to older games like Fallout 4
I highly doubt that. Scorpio upgrades to existing games have no place at the actual conference. And fallout VR is supposedly exclusive to the vive which isn't part of Microsofts Vr/ar thing.

They simply have to have something, they cant have another show like last year, they're trying to sell hardware.

If they've really got nothing new/exciting coming then what are they doing, exactly? Also a lack of studios is on them in its entirety, I dont think we should have sympathy for them or give them a pass because they shut everyone down.

Halo 6, Forza 7, Ori 2 and one more game would be able to top that.

The problem with this logistically is that if they want to have an early public beta like they did with 5, they need to announce it before next E3.

Sea of Thieves NEEDS to be early 2018. If they try and ship it in fall it will be a huge mistake. They should launch it into open beta or early access but not full release

The reason they would announce it would be to show footage of it running on the system they are trying to sell to you this fall. It would make less sense NOT to show it

You could probably put We Happy few in that category as well since it got a pretty lengthy reveal
But as you said, I only expect those 3 above and 1 actually AAA game to be the "new"stuff announced

Accurate insider info being dropped in hurr or just assumptions? Cause we I'm not seeing much room for 2-3 surprises which would be sad. Hope I'm wrong.

Still looking forward to seeing more of scorpio though.

It's not really insider info. It's more of a combination of educated guesses and low expectations.

Do we know for a fact already that the Gobo game is F2p? I recall that the game was third person action but F2P is now a fact too? :(
They're working on at least two projects. One of them is a "third person character action game" and the other is a f2p game based on a known IP. AFAIK we don't know which game is the MS project.
