Precisely the same situation. I even set up a desk downstairs, but it was too uncomfortable to set up a laptop with small tablet, so I never want to draw there while I'm relaxing with my GF in the evening. My A4 intuos goes unloved right now because this is a better working setup. Definitely recommend Manga Studio though for keyboardless drawing.
edit: using it on my lap at home, and on a flight. I also use it a lot in the mornings in bed when I wake up early, but my GF is still asleep. The kick stand propped on my stomach is pretty comfy.
Both! The bugs are still there but relatively few, and the overall experience is pretty great.A friend of mine is buying SP4 pretty soon. Is it okay to buy now or still buggy?
Has anybody else been experiencing random wifi disconnects? My SP4 is practically unusable right now because the wifi's constantly dropping out.

God I'm so tempted to buy a Surface Pro 4 now but all the bugs and little hardware issues turn me off.
Just saw some posters with light bleed and dead pixels but they could just be one off cases. There is no hardware issue. Software bugs, two major once as far as I can tell.
1). Intel video driver
2). Putting it on sleep does not work as it should
I changed my system to Hibernate on power button press a while ago, which solved all of my battery draining issues, but it's quite annoying if you accidentally press it when reaching for the volume controls or handling the system! :O

Doesn't hibernate hurt SSDs?
Is this true, or an old wive's tale? I remember people would often state SSDs and Flash drives had a very limited number of writes.
People that have had the SP3 for a while seem pretty annoyed by the fan and throttling, so I wouldn't opt into that at this point. Might depend upon what your needs are, and perhaps an M3 SP4 would be a better compromise.is the surface pro 4 worth double the SP3? I can probably buy an i5/4GB/128SSD SP3 used for £400/425, Vs £850 for the i5/4GB/128SSD SP4 new. Used one is still under warranty. I'd buy a type cover 4 either way
My main worry is fan noise/throttling etc which does seem a lot better on the SP4. But that is a big difference in price..

edit: oh, just saw your edit. I'm very happy with my SP4 i5.Have fun with it!
If I need an Ethernet socket, will any generic USB-Ethernet adapter work? Any recommended ones?
I'm using hibernate in lieu of sleep right now, which is a bit of a pain but I've not had problems with it losing power when I'm not using it. With that in mind, it should definitely retain power while off.Is the battery supposed to drain while it's shut down (not in sleep)? I've been experiencing severe battery drain while turned off for a while now. I charged it to around 90% and then turned it off as a test and when I came back a few days later the charge was 8%.
Turns out the problem is the lock screen, once I turned off require password on wake up the tablet wakes up properly.I'm unable to wake this thing from sleep like 50% of the time. I have to do a hard reset a lot. What's up with that? >_>

The recall is said to be for cords that are sharply or repeatedly bent or wrapped, according to Channelnomics Europe. The voluntary recall is not expected to target the Surface Pro 4, which Microsoft launched in the fall of 2015, or its non-Pro Surface models.
In the U.S., Microsoft will be providing the free power cord exchanges for Surface Pro, Pro 2 and Pro 3 models sold before March 2015, the spokesperson clarified.
Will see if that's it. I've been shutting it down as soon as the screen shuts off. When you power off, it actually takes about ten seconds after the screen turns off before it actually shuts down.
Do you have a type cover? When you shut down, touch the touchpad on it, the key lights will probably illuminate. Once they turn off you know you've fully shut down.
If you shut the type cover before it fully shuts down, it actually puts itself into sleep mode instead.
I learned this after accidentally going 100%-0% when I thought I shut it down back in December, then discovered the truth online.
Is there a way to save screenshots via the double-clicking of the pen into the clipboard? I'd like to insert my clippings directly into my PowerPoint slides.
They should automatically be saved to the screenshots folder within my pictures .... On your onedrive
It kept disconnecting so I opened it up and took the battery out. Now it won't even power on or pair with the surface.
lol
The NFL no longer incorrectly refers to Surface tablets as iPads, but apparently, the Surfaces for the Patriots were crapping out during the game.
That brand recognition.
So my gf has been non stop complaining about the fan noise on Surface Pro 4. What the deal with this? any work around or solution? When I talking on the phone with her, even I can hear it. So she is definitely not exaggerating.

Well at least mine (i7 model) behaves just like that. When watching YouTube videos via the Hyper app, it doesn't even get warm.I thought reviews had it as quiet unless you're thrashing it? Just web bruising or streaming video shouldn't do that?
I'm loving my m3 model. Though admittedly I don't run any demanding apps, I've been using the camera, browsing photo galleries and watching hi-res videos without hearing anything.
The fan noise issues seem to relate to the i5 and i7 models in particular.
The m3 model has no fan.

I just bought an i5 so I'm slightly wary. Quiet would be more important than performance as I have a desktop to go with it anyway.
Wasn't going to set it up yet but I guess I should while I'm still in the 30 day return window.
