Anyone got the SP4 to boot from PXE or USB? Trying to get Win10Enterprise on it so I can actually use it for work, but the damned thing just won't boot from any USB device.

Edit: got it to boot from USB when reformatting it to fat32. Still can't get my USB Ethernet adapter (Dlink that's worked fine on the Surface pro 2) to work tho.

why do you need enterprise? It already has Pro which should allow you to do anything within a domain organization.

Has anyone had a problem where touch becomes unresponsive and your finger causes the pen cursor to show up? It'll highlight items on screen but won't let me click till I switch to the pen. It'll work again for a few seconds then start again.

Your IT admin should be able to provide you a license key to upgrade Pro to Enterprise.

I work in the IT department, it's already fixed :) The USB I was using was NTFS formatted, and the Dlink Ethernet adapter that worked ont he SP2 doesn't work on the SP4 (for PXE). So I'll have to wait until the dock arrives before I can start testing PXE rollout.

The whole point was to do a fresh install with our own image, to do some testing, for a possible future rollout on a larger scale.

Took a flight from Germany to UK yesterday, and I was able to draw comfortably during the whole flight. You don't have to stow tablets at any point, unlike laptops and such. After this photo was taken I changed to using the tablet in portrait mode, which was even more comfortable.

Sketched for a while in bed this morning too.

Very nice sketches. So jelly I have no drawing skills. :/

Looking at Ebay I saw some 12V car charger for the Surface. From China of course.
Are they safe you think?

Question. My SP4 i7 charged all night. I spend 15 min browsing and it was already down to 83% (1hr 13min capacity left). This was on 50% brightness. And the fans were just going nuts. It was ridiculous because I was only browsing.

Most of the time you can look up the culprit in taskmanager

It's supposed to have resistance so it doesn't collapse.

WOAH. Is that even with the Surface 3? I haven't pulled my kickstand back that far, because I worry about breaking it off or something.

My only complaint with the Surface 3 after like 2 or so weeks of using it is the keyboard is a bit "mushy"/non-stable even on a completely flat table and the [ ] key's are hard to hit given the keyboard layout for consistent coding.

I'd be interested in how that works. I'm our System Admin and I handle all of our image deployments. I haven't created a Win10 image yet though.

That is the Surface Pro 3 actually :P The kickstand on the SP4 is the same.

The most extreme angle is the one I use for sketching on my desk, it's a pretty comfortable position. You'll know when it gets to the end.

EDIT: Sorry, I just noticed you're talking about the Suface 3 and not Surface Pro 3. Sadly the Surface 3 doesn't go that far unless you want to be brave.

Anyone know of a good Ebook reader program for Windows?

I a few in the Windows Store, but they didn't work all that well. For some reason they couldn't import epubs properly.

A full screen mode with touch/swipe support would be nice.
I tried Ebook Reader from Icecream Apps, but the UI didnt support high PPI screens.

From what I gather NOOK and Freda are supposed to be the better ebook reader apps on the Windows Store, but neither are available for download for some reason.

Try this one, should have everything you want.

I'm planning to do a big write up of my experience with the Surface Pro 4, especially as a portable digital art setup. If you have any questions or suggestions on what I should write about, I'd appreciate it.

Does anyone have the Core m3 model?

Any impressions? I like the fanless design, but if power is too restricted it's probably not worth it...

Wow. I agree with you completely on the apple exosysent part. Was a huge apple fan. Then things changed. I now own a nexus 6p and already considering a windows 10. Let me know what you decided and if you have any regrets. :)

Well...I think I've made my decision. I'll be putting my MacBook Pro on eBay this week, it seems. A lot of what was holding me back was my abysmal battery life on this Surface, but I remembered I installed some Samsung SSD driver which others attributed to being a battery vampire. Well, I did a full refresh of my SP4 over the weekend, and now I'm getting at least twice the battery I was before, and definitely in the range of what id expect from this thing. Bravo to MS, also, for addressing the early issues with this thing, as well.

FYI, I almost never activate the fan on the i5, only when doing very complex high resolution painting.

It's odd because others say the fan comes on all the time, even just watching a video. Maybe stupid chrome or a particular app being crappy? It's the one thing putting me off the i5 model, especially after the SP3 spun the fans a lot (I know the SP4 is much improved but it still makes me wary)

I've heard that about the i7 but not the i5. I use chrome and haven't had this, but maybe I'm missing something.

I have my SP4 i7 but it keeps BSOD when launching The Witcher 3. Any tips/workarounds out there?

I'm creating a full review on my SP4 experiences, hoping to complete it just before Christmas.

Purchased myself a SP4, and after playing with it for a few hours, Wi-Fi suddenly doesn't work anymore. I see all available networks, I simply cannot connect to any of them. Restart didn't work, deactivating the adapter and even uninstalling it didn't work.

Any ideas?

Just playing Curse of Issyos and had some worrying graphics glitches. Triangles and smears of sparkles flicking on the screen. D:

I've "solved" the problem for now... one USB stick(!) causes the SP4 to lose its Wi-Fi connection. I guess that shouldn't happen. Let's see whether it persists under different conditions.

oh wow!that's awful. I'm glad it's working again.
is there anything strange about that USB stick?

Is there any way to improve the touch pad on the type cover? I've noticed that small movements don't get registered until you've moved your finger a certain distance, then as long as you don't let go, small movements work. It wouldn't be that bad but I've got sensitivity to full, so it's quite a bit more noticeable.

It's to the point where I can make a really small circle on the touchpad and the cursor won't move.

In case it matters, I've never liked "Enhance pointer precision" so that's off.

Well, "strange", it's a rather fast USB 3 stick made by Transcend, but apart from that, nothing unusual. Really weird. Other USB devices don't cause that problem.

Can you check what causes the BSOD?

Unfortunately since posting this I've not had time to game, but I gave it a go this morning and it outright crashes on load now with no BSOD symptoms.

The main reason I went for the i7 model is because of the Iris graphics to help give me a few extra FPS. But what's the use if my favourite games don't even run :(

I can't help but think the SP4 is the best piece of hardware I have ever used, let down by software. Too many niggles.

Thanks for the update! I'll most likely be making the jump in the coming weeks. :) I'll tell you how it goes? Btw, any struggle with the downgrade of screen size? I dunno if I'm gonna miss watching videos on my MBPro or not. Haha

Got mine on Saturday. Love it so far. Its the core i5 with 8gigs of ram and a 256gig ssd. Pretty fast. Also I love Windows Hello. I installed all the apps i use onto it and it has no issue running any of the Adobe CC apps i use. The screen is the best ive ever used. It could however be a little faster on waking up. But thats my only issue so far. I did have the fan turn on but that was mostly likely because i had a twitch stream at full screen with another in the background as well as Word open.

does anyone ever get Windows Hello just sitting there saying "Making sure it's you..." and it never logs you in?

and then since Windows 10 is SO DUMB about bringing up the keyboard when you touch a text input field, you have to restart the computer because there's no way to log in.

I just disabled Windows Hello for now. My GF was like shocked when she saw me use Hello. She thought it was so cool. But it seems a little buggy still.

I've also come into my office after sleeping and the infrared "Hello" light is turned on like it was trying to "find me" all night or something.

Ahh thats kind of funny. She has been looking for you. Cortana might be having a rampancy moment. Now she might be thinking about locking you in a cryptum for 10,000 years but dont worry. All is good.

No issues with Windows Hello. Have you tried enabling picture password or pin? I have them all ready to go for a rainy day.

The only windows hello thing that's popped up for me is when it authenticates me but still wants me to swipe up. I think it happens when I unlock then lock then unlock. Not sure. Can't put my finger on it.
