Lol, I have this thing for a few months now and only found out TODAY that it has a microSD card slot!

That's actually great since I have the 128gb model, gives me a bit more space with a 200gb microSD card.

Don't worry, it took me about a month to find the button on side of the pen. I thought it was just the magnet strip!

Oh, you can get a 200GB microSD card now? I have a 128GB one in my i5. It makes all the difference! :D I have Steam on there (a bit slow but I don't game much).

I've heard a lot of issues with heat and fan noise from the i7, so it sounds like the i5 is the better compromise.

It seems like a lot of the Surface clones releasing lately have i5/i7s and have no fan. I wonder if the SP5 will nix the fan on all the models?

I hated the fan on my SP3 i5 so I went with the SP4 m3. I think in 2-3 years I'll probably sell my MBP and SP4 and get either the top of the line SB or SP as my only machine.

The fan almost never comes on with my SP4 i5, but maybe if you have to use Chrome or something then you'll prefer it with no fan.

I expect to sell my SP4 within 2 years just to avoid the battery becoming too useless, and to keep it current. I've stopped using my Vaio laptop now.

THere's a few on the market that allows you to charge laptops but they're usually pretty bulky. Here's one that I'm getting to charge my SP4 when I'm outside: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/...-power-bank-smartphone-powerbank/x/14544494#/
I noticed that you can buy 12v Surface Pro cables from ebay/amazon that avoid the need for the transformer on the charger block. but you're right, most of the 12v chargers out there are pretty bulky, intended mostly for use in cars etc. Good to know it's an option, though!

A little sad I sprung for the fingerprint keyboard, when Windows Hello works so damn well.

A little disappointed by the Steam Controller I bought. Anyone know how I would use the space bar while playing Papers Please when in tablet mode (no keyboard connected)?

So was trying to wake up my surface but now it stuck where neither touchscreen, keyboard nor a hard reset work.

The software hardware integration is a joke.

My 4th surface pro 4 just got dispatched, let's hope this one isnt faulty too :)))
Despite what seems like no quality control on their part, they are good at shipping replacements quickly.

I posted a thing on Medium about how I create my artwork with SP4 with Clip Studio and Touchkey, and some general SP4 gushing.

Really like your blog and your art.

As someone that barely has any experience with drawing digitally, can you recommend any tutorials or guides on starting up? Stuff like layers and how to take advantage of them or the whole digital medium in general would be a huge help. I feel like I'm not properly utilizing the SP4.

Nice article dock.

Not sure if something is up, but I took my SP4 to work for the first time today since upgrading to the Windows 10 Anniversary edition and my battery was at like 40% when I turned it on for the first time at 3 PM. I took it off the charger at 100% this morning. I have the power button set to hibernate (haven't had issues since I set it this way).

Valid criticisms though the byline of the mentions that the iPad Pro might better and here's why... But I feel like a lot of the issues would be the same (no hardware or pen buttons) and some worse (no full Photoshop).

Do you have an iPad Pro dock? Do you like drawing with it more than the SP4?

I've done lots of pics with procreate on a non-pro iPad, and I've spent some hours with iPad Pro.
My rationale is that most of these issues are moot on iOS. Colour grabbing is easy on procreate too, and you're not trying to use software that is designed to be used with a keyboard.

Obviously there's no photoshop, but this is about managing expectations when you buy an SP4. Lots of people spent hundreds on CS6 and it does not work here. I use CS1 and CC2016.

So I just got a Surface Pro 4 am I am loving it.... However, there is one gripe I am having right now and not sure if I am missing something.

When in a browser (using Chrome) on my old Mac, I could use 2 fingers and swipe from left to right to take me back to the previous page I was looking at. Is there really no way to do this with the Surface???

You can swipe on the screen itself. Not sure if Chrome supports trackpad shortcuts on Windows though.

Still dealing with two annoying issues I saw and experienced with SP3: wifi connection issues and the black screen when trying to boot up. The combo of a Microsoft OS and hardware just isn't putting a lot of faith in me.

Have had mine for over 8 months, use it everyday, in and out of my bag etc. the cover looks pretty much as it did on day1.
Strange. My surface is inside a leather case when i don't use it. Is my type cover faulty and poorly made on the corners then ?

It works, but the other way around (double finger swipe right to left).

A couple days ago I installed Hello, and while it works perfectly fine while inside, it never ever works outside. Am I doing it wrong or is that a known bug?

I think the iris scanner has issues with sunlight. It works almost perfectly in every other situation, even in the dark (which makes sense when you look at the camera footage), but sunlight breaks it.

Doesn't work for me either. If I had to guess, I'd say it's because Hello projects some kind of pattern onto your face with the IR LED and outside it's too bright so that doesn't work.

Thinking about the poor performance I've had with external displays, I wonder whether my 4GB RAM is to blame for this! I'm always impressed with how well the machine performs with 4GB of RAM but maybe driving two displays is too much for the GPU without a bit more breathing room.

If the Surface Pro 5 turns out to be something special, I'll be tempted to sell this one and upgrade. I love the SP4 but I'll be happy to upgrade in order to keep the battery in decent order.

Just read this quote and looked at the pen on my desk, no fucking way. I've had my device since launch...wow
Haha, amazing! :D Welcome to the club! I wonder what percentage of users NEVER click that button. Microsoft really ought to do something to teach this.

Have any of you had issues with Edge locking up while using Gaf, or any website really, when you are trying to type in a text field?

I have to wait at least 30 seconds once the page loads before I can type anything. It does this is Chrome also.

I have the i5 8GB sp4. Just got the anniversary update the other day, but it was doing this before then also.

Not a world ending issue. Just kinda annoying!

I got a Teclast X3 Pro, same specs as the most baseline Surface Pro 4 model, minus the Microsoft Tax.

You cant be serious with this comment. I just looked up this device and the build quality/features are several tiers behind a Surface. Those bezels, screen size and thickness yuck.

Welcome to what Apple users have had to deal with forever!

In case anyone is looking, I am trying to sell my i5, 256, 8gb Surface Pro 4. I have it listed in the B/S/T thread or you can PM me about. I'm selling it with the black Type Cover 4 and a tablet sleeve.

Question for Surface Pro 4 users: I'm torn between a Pro 4 or a Surface Book for my next laptop. Are there any obvious daily limitations to the Pro 4 that you've run into? I love the idea of the extra power of the Surface Book, but the hinge and the hinge gap sort of turn me off of it a bit. I'd likely do very little gaming on a Pro 4, mostly some light to medium development work, and various typical web uses (browsing, streaming, etc).

Appreciate any input!

For what it's worth Hippo, there are rumors that the Surface Book 2 is going to have a redesigned hinge with no gap. No strong rumors though about timeframe. I'm guessing Spring 2017.

I've had a Surface Book since it came out and I probably enjoyed having the Surface Pro 3 more. While the true laptop form factor is nice, I barely ever use the dGPU, and the Surface Pro was a lot lighter to carry around too.

Also, strangely enough, I like the trackpad on the Surface Pro 4's type cover more than the trackpad on the Surface Book.

Are there any rumours of a Surface 4/5 (not Pro)? I really want a PC with a good Stylus but the Pro is too expensive and even the 500€ Surface 3 (without Stylus and keyboard) is really pushing it. I'm someone who buys the cheapest option usually (love Chromebooks) but I really want that Stylus. Found out about Cube i7 Stylus but importing from China to Germany is a hassle. So a new Surface coming out would surely lower the price of the last model.

Now that Intel has given up on the Atom CPUs, I don't expect a cheap non-Pro Surface any time soon. Besides, the non-Pro never had a stylus...

There are a few other devices that offer stylus support and are probably cheaper than the Surface.

Shogmaster keeps an eye on devices with pens: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1163361. Most of the deals that get highlighted don't apply to Germany, however.

The Surface 3 definitely supports the stylus.

Hope the surface team acknowledges that and make a dock with dgpu for the Sp5.

I'd rather have a surface that can be docked into a desktop class gpu than the considerable but small bump they can put on a ultrabook form.
