Is it worth it to buy now in 2016 a Surface Pro 2 (Microsoft Surface Pro 2 - 128GB, Haswell i5 Processor) for $340?

I don't think I can justify the purchase of a SP4 with equal specs.

^^ no unless it's brand new. The first two gens of the Pro were hot garbage. Fat, bulky, 16:9.

Depends on your needs. If you can live with the short battery life and the smaller screen, the Surface Pro 2 might still be a great choice.

I would honestly aim for the 3 rather than the 2. I think 3 was a huge upgrade tbh. I'd rather have a 3 with a smaller drive

hi,

having a problem with tablet mode. in windows 8 i use to be able to have 3 apps open at the same time on surface pro 3 ( twitter, neogaf, netflix). since i have updated to 10 i can only seem only be able to have 2 at a time. anyone know how i can do this?

I ended up selling mine after using it for a few weeks.

The battery life is terrible for watching movies and the like when compared to my Galaxy Tab S 10.5, and I wasn't using it as a real laptop much, since I have a work one I do most of my stuff on.

Way too expensive for what it is for me personally. Plus I had all sorts of issues with it, especially with it booting up (from sleep mode), Windows Hello recognition, and a few other quirks.

Parent's Surface Pro 4 is suddendly blue screening on start up. They have had it for about 4 months. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot it?

since today i have a light bleed issue on my 1 month old surface 4, is it possible that it appears randomly ? i returned one day one and im sure i checked my second one and i didnt have any issue, before today.

its not very annoying i see it mosly at boot , otherwise its ok, though for a premium product its surprising

Oh, wow yeah, I'd never recommend it as a movie watching or battery sensible device. It's awful as a regular tablet imo, I keep my iPad mini 2 handy.

I'm rather surprised that MS is still have these issues with their Surface Pro 4. I would have never guessed that Lenovo would do a better job of cloning a SP3 then Microsoft did. Miix 700 never gave me problems with coming out of sleep, battery drain, or anything else.

Been really enjoying drawing during lunchtime and first thing in the morning in bed, and I've started posting art onto instagram to keep the habit going. All Clip Studio Paint.

Amazes me how well the Surface Line is made yet how average their software is.

No love for the Surface at my local Walmart...

Someone must have had a real beef with it, because I never see stuff vandalized to that degree.

Has anyone else figured out how to disable the right swipe gesture to pop-up the action centre? The menu is useful and I'd prefer to keep the gesture, but it clashes so often when I'm drawing.

Anyone running Windows 10 insider on SP4?

Interested in trying Windows Ink, but not really interested if it is really unstable.
When is Windows Ink due for release anyway?

I've been running the Insider Preview since I got the SP4. Ink gets better with each update and is supposed to ship with the Anniversary Update. e: What's a little disappointing is that features like the ruler aren't available throughout the OS.

Well, been a handful of months since I bought the Pro 4 (Got it the first week of March) and I have to say this is the best PC I've owned, by miles and miles. I have a Xbox for gaming, so I have no need for a desktop. Needed something snappy and easily portable.

I have the i5/265GB/8GB version. Perfect for what I need. Love it.

here's a recent drawing I did on my SP4...

The pen nub is getting all weird on me. I guess I'll head out to the MS store later today to see if they have the nib pack.

I'm in pain. I'm in so much pain. This hurts my soul in ways my soul shouldn't be hurt by a piece of glass. A piece of sexy, seductive glass......

I am thinking about buying a Surface Pro 4 for my next semester, but would only do so, if it is possible to do more than just taking notes.
So, how is writing texts with the surface pro 4?
Is it possible to use it for work in university like writing transcripts or longer texts? Or is it just good for taking small notes?

Is there any update planed for the future, which could make writing more comfortable and precise?
And if not a Pro4, can anyone recommend another device which is suited for my needs?

I'm ready to jump in also but might just wait for the next update. Not sure how long that would be but I have a Chromebook to hold me over in the meantime. But I do want something a lot more powerful.

We shall see. Hopefully some news comes in the next few months.

Looking to get the Surface Pro 4 (Student bundle with Gift Card and Xbox One). How much of a difference does the i5 make compared to the m3, and would 8 vs 4 GB of RAM be advisable?

Uses: Photoshop, Office, SPSS. No intent to use if for gaming.

It really depends on what you're going to do with it. For basic reading, browsing and school work the M3 will be sufficient. If you're using graphics heavy apps then you'd want to go with the i5.

I do a bit of work with photoshop and image analysis software, so i5 it is.

I bought an ipad pro a week ago and am thinking I will return it and go with a SP4 i5 like I had originally wanted to get in the first place. Even though I love the Apple pencil and how it feels on the screen I am bothered by the lack of programs available. I need a new PC anyway so this should fill my needs better. Mostly using it for art (Clip Studio Paint, Photoshop), and maybe some of my Steam games.

what type of Photoshop work? If it's not too intense even the m3 could work for you. If you look a few posts above, I do some simple drawings in Photoshop and I never have performance issues.

If you are buying from MS you can always do an exchange if the m3 is not powerful enough. I love how there's no fan in the m3... that was the worst part about my SP3.

I use Photoshop a little differently, its for research. So most of it is for adjusting high-res microscopy or MRI images and simple arrangements of images. Basically just making nice things for journal articles. It's not a difficult task, but the files are quite large and seem to require a decent laptop at least to work with. I think the other software would require the processing power for the analysis part of work. Good to know about the exchange, there is a store nearby me for convenience.

Is it worth it to jump in on a Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book with the promo they have going on?

I need a new portable laptop and have been wanting either the Book or Pro 4 but don't know when to expect an update to either one. I also have a Xbox One already so would sell that for some money back.

Is anyone jumping in on this deal? If so, which one will you be getting? Trying to see if this is the right time to buy.

Well the wait between Pro 3 and Pro 4 was ~16 months. Not saying it will be similar this time around but who knows? If it's 16 months again, we may not see the SP5 and SB2 until sometime around February 2017.

I've spent a while with the Apple Pencil with Procreate. I really like it in general, and I love how responsive Procreate is when zooming and rotating, but I would have regretted not having my portable Clip Studio Paint machine. My i5 SP4 is my favourite computer in a long time.

So MicrosoftStore has a decent Student deal running but looks like it is US only, anyone know if they normally run a deal in the Summer months in the UK too? Would seem like they should but with current pound/dollar issues maybe not :-/. Not a student but I can get the deal as I work for a University.

Been using a Surface 3 for almost a year. I have no idea what the hell you're talking about its awesome. One of the best designed pieces of hardware since the Zune HD.
"One of the best designed pieces of hardware since the zune HD"
Lmao ok you lost all credibility. The zunes were junk MP3 players. Nothing about their horrible hardware and UI was good about it.

Pretty interesting that the Wacom ExpressKey remote works on the Surface Pro 3 and 4. It'll be cool if they release a bluetooth version of this in the future, and make it available a little more freely (it comes bundled with the 27" Cintiq, but it has a USB dongle. You can also buy it online in USA for $100).

I tried out GetLeonardo as Surface Pro specific art application yesterday, but I wasn't too impressed to be honest. The infinite canvas with raster graphics is a nice combination, and the zooming is much more responsive than Photoshop and Clip Studio, but I need better brushes than this.

I'd like something like that for physical hotkeys, but $100 is too much.

I guess I'll buy some cheap bluetooth numpad.
