Microsoft to develop Xbox 360 Marvel MMO

How would this work, anyway? If they allow users to just be the Marvel hero they like most, in an MMO environment there would be 1,000 Spider-men roaming the cityscape at any given time. But if you have to create your own character, what's the incentive to get this over City of Heroes?

That's about it, though

That you can interact with the characters. That is why DC is a better IP for an MMO because of things like JLA/JLU. You can work your way to being part of an affiliation with one of the huge groups. Marvel has it on a smaller scale.

Plenty of people think DC is better than Marvel.
I think that DC has a much more interesting and diverse history and character set then Marvel.

I love both universes. It'll be rough to pick between them so it will come down to which game is better as I'm getting both consoles already.

Bringing all the different DC or Marvel superheroes together into one big mishmash doesn't sound very appealing.

The X-Men license on it's own would make for a great MMO. It would actually make sense within the world to have thousands and thousands of mutants; fighting each other, fighting humans, etc...

"I'd love a marvel game, but I'd also like a DC game."

"Actually the Marvel deal has been done for about 4 months. It was locked before E3."

What a waste of a great license.

Fuck make a beat em up or an adventure game.

Not a damn MMO.

wont there be other titles that fit your needs? don't hate; a lot of people enjoy these kind of games. thats why they're making one.

If this game isn't scheduled to come out until 2008 then I put my money on Microsoft losing interest in publishing this game somewhere between mid to late 2007 and cancelling it soon after. Marvel will probably want out of the deal by then too.

My problem with all of this MMO games is that I don't see myself ever subscribing to a game let alone more than one. The current business model for MMO games does not work for me and I would assume most gamers. I don't mind paying a yearly fee for an umbrella service like Xbox Live for all of my games, but I'm not going to pay individually for every single game every single month. It's too much money and I don't know that I would make use of each game every month. Cancelling multiple MMOG's would also be hassle and I would feel like I wasted all of my time and money if the game was no longer playable and/or my character was deleted after cancelling my subscription.

they should let you play evil and pvp.. and then have like reputation where if u wreak too much havoc they send an iconic after you like say spidey

id like to see you try mr parker mwahaha

You can use the Silver package for MMO's.

I disagree, DC has tons of intersting Characters, just look at Justice league Unlimted, doesnt DC also the the rights to the Vertigo Comics Sandman, and HellBlazer, I could be wrong..

Yeah they do.

"Vertigo" would be an awesome expansion pack for the DC MMO game....hell it would probably be a better MMO game than just the one with regular DC characters since it's a more fantasy-type world. Clobbering lookalike thugs in Metropolis and Gotham everyday seems like it would wear thin really quick.

Marvel is going to keep making other video games. Microsoft won the right to make just a Marvel MMO, not exclusive rights to all Marvel video games moving forward.

The upcoming Marvel MMORPG that Sigil is putting out (eventually) will lead to interesting fanboy arguments.
I doubt you'll hear anything official about it for quite some time, as Sigil obviously has a lot on their plates as it is. Hell, it might not even be real. But then, it might be "up coming" real and featuring the Unreal 3 Engine.
No, it's my way of saying "That's what I heard but it might change because it's so far away". I heard Sigil has the rights to Marvel MMOG and it was going to sport the U3E. But we both know that Vanguard is what Sigil is after right now, so I doubt you'll hear anything more than this about the game for quite some time. (Unless Brad shows up in the thread and goes "This much is true" which I doubt he'll do due to the nature of things)
