Who are these people who get all of the "solid build" apple products?

I've built my own pcs for years and bought dells and gateways. I've had FAR more problems with mac hardware than I have with PCs. And I've never had a great time with Apple's awesome customer service either--each time I've had to fix something it's been a run around. And to top it off there's the whole scam that is Apple Care...

I won't deny that macs are fine in general and good for a lot of things, but the common insinuation that they're nothing but awesome compared to PCs really just sounds like flagrant fanboy-ism.

hardware reliability is pretty much the same for all major manufacturers.. but apple replaced my old powerbook with a brand new SR macbook pro because they couldnt find a case part they needed to fix some slight damage in a timely fashion.. thats some pretty awesome customer service.. imo.

True, but Apple stock has rebounded slightly in the past few weeks to help make up some of the difference.

But I agree, MS should focus on their own issues and not worry about Apple.

Tell that to Apple. Their whole deal has been to snipe at Microsoft for years. If their products were so good, they could cut the crap out completely. Also, Apple has conceded the OS war to Microsoft. They have pretty much come out and said that people need Windows. They don't need OSX.

Of course people are. I only have an iPhone b/c it was the best phone available at the time. Otherwise, it's overpriced, like all Apple products. But this is rich coming from Balmer, since those douchebags still charge full price for old OSes. You're paying $X just for the Windows logo. Same difference. PEACE.

I can't agree with that. Product quality doesn't always mean that it stands on its own. Awesome products can do poorly and mediocre products can rule the market. So quality of a product alone doesn't mean they don't need to change perception and market the hell out of what they are and what the competition isn't. So I don't agree that if their product was so good that they wouldn't have to take swipes at the competition.

huh?

Maybe he should have spent his time commenting about how his Windows Logo tagged cheapo Zune is in last place and how he was going to fix that situation by making them cheaper or giving them away with XBoxes or something.

You can't shit on Microsoft for taking shots at Apple when that is pretty much how Apple has run their PR and marketing for years. Apple, by adding bootcamp has said that a large number of people NEED Windows. That OSX is unable to get the job done on its own.

That's not a problem for me. I like OSX. But Apple and their fans shouldn't be so damn smug about it.

So apple fanboys or w/e are still not acknowledging the existence of Windows 7?

The day it runs all my Mac software that I need to do my job is the day I will acknowledge it as a replacement solution. I'm sure there are many Windows users who say the same thing. It doesn't matter how awesome or shitty an OS is. If its the only game in town, its what you use.

im perfectly happy with winxp
i can do everything i want just fine
been running this pc for 5+ years now and outside of gamecrashes (pc was too weak) it has never crashed on me

its not even a selfbuilt one
just some random factory assembled one (fujitsu-siemens)
seriously mac users what am i missing?

and dont come to me with "the mac user experience" or "it just works"
get that marketing bullshit outta here
