If I don't link my NNID rigt away, will that result in problems later on? I just can't seem to link my NNID to Miitomo. The iOS version won't even display my account at this point

Here the fix for error code 801-1700

Edit: It seems like you only need to pick the country based on your appstore region when you start the app for the first time. If its US you need to pick US even if your NNID is from another region (e.g: canada)

This is such a BS way to add friends. If you can link the Nintendo Account it should let you add friends from you 3DS/Wii U friend list if they also have accounts linked. Or let you just add people. A LOT of people just follow others on twitter and don't have many followers or want their Facebook accounts linked.

Yeah, the QR code doesn't actually do anything with miitomo friendship. It's kinda silly that it's even in there but I guess it's good for people that like to collect mii's? I just think it looks silly so i posted it.

Nope, you guys aren't missing anything. You can only add friends by following them and them have them follow you back. After that you search for friends in the app.
