What does battery saving mode do?

Halves the frame-rate.

It'll also take a while because there's no quicker process. If only there were check boxes and an "accept all" option but I guess Nintendo didn't consider friend requests happening en masse.

Friends-of-friends weren't an option in the initial Japanese versions, it was added in an update the day before this launched in the west.
I think you're right, juggling hundreds of requests simultaneously was probably something they didn't consider.

I'm wondering if they are saving that stuff for a possible future update. Gotta keep the release bare-bones initially to make sure it all works, but then upgrade it once everything is in place.

I was looking for an option for this but couldn't find it. If not a current feature, I think Ninty will definitely add it later on. Seems obvious. A big aspect of this app is personalization.

Depends, if you're talking about sharing with friends in general through your phone outside Miitomo, you tap the miifoto, then tap share, then choose your communication/social media app of choice. If you want to share the miifoto through miitomo you have to either update your "recent shot of me" answer, or through comments on other people's answers. "Recent shot of me" answers can't use existing miifotos (unless you save them to your device and use it as a background), and you can't hide your body in them.

I know that I have Twitter friends who signed up for Miitomo but the suggestion list doesn't get updated. It's the same random peeps getting suggested again after refreshing the link, while mutual Twitter friends fail to show up. I wish there was a way to at least remove some suggestions since a lot of people have reached their limit already.

Make sure they've linked their twitter account as well. Also there's very little distinguishing "suggested friends" from friends who are linked (only showing small icon from the social media service) so they are easy to miss.
