Dan said:Considering Bush and his cronies spent the last two weeks blaming local and state officials, I'm not sure how well he'd be able to rewrite history and blame Mike Brown. Besides, we all know Bush won't turn on a friend. Brown's probably off to join Albaugh to profit off Bush's messes.

Don't worry, when there are hearings the "blame game" will be in full effect.Lo-Volt said:CNN today shows an approval rating of the president way up to 46%, when taken from September 8 to 11. It is the latest poll released on the issue, lasting longer than any other such poll from a major news group. This was done in conjunction with USA Today and Gallup.

This was during Clinton's administration. Not saying that Clinton had anything to do with that, I'm sure it was that way under Bush Sr as well, but FEMA was a Clinton admin success story. Bush has this nasty habit of doing the complete opposite of everything Clinton had...apparently even the good stuff.

Clinton spoke twice Wednesday with James Lee Witt, the director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, to keep abreast of Hurricane Floyd's progress. He also consulted with Vice President Al Gore.
The massive storm also prompted Clinton to cut short a day of rest planned for Hawaii on the way back from New Zealand, where he had attended the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.
By canceling the Hawaii visit, Clinton will be back in Washington on Wednesday night, instead of Thursday morning.
''The president wants to return quickly to stay on top of the hurricane developments,'' said Clinton spokesman Jake Siewert.

Bush Not Aware That His Own FEMA Director No Longer Works For Him
That was President Bushs reponse to a reporter who asked whether he had heard that his own FEMA director, Michael Brown, resigned today from the administration. For the second time today, Bush demonstrated that the Commander-in-Chief is not on top of things.
Quicktime video
Yeah, I saw that on CNN earlier. Right afterwards CNN read Brown's statement, which said he had told Bush of reason to resign, something about his presence being a distraction. So either Brown's statement was in written form and hadn't gotten to Bush yet, or Bush wasn't prepared to respond and lied.Macam said:Apparently Bush still doesn't know what's going on:

How do you know it's Newsmax? A quick Google News search didn't come up with Newsmax, but some other right wing news organizations.Fragamemnon said:I love the sourcing of that article. Newsmax?

No, a lot of it lies at the federal level. NO needed those levees fixed. If they don't get the funding, they can't do it, no matter how much they want to. I'm not saying they are perfect, but you can't get pissed at them for just having to learn to deal with all they had accessible to them...mmlemay said:In this thread, it's BUSH, BUSH, BUSH.
