ferrets ferrets ferrets ferrets FERRETS!!!
That reminds me: on ESPN Classic the other day I happened to see an interview with Mike Tyson circa 1985, just after he had turned pro and started to make a name for himself. The funny thing was, he sounded just as stupid and high-pitched as he does today -- I woulda thought he learned that act in jail. His manager had to do most of the talking for him, since he couldn't answer a straight question in front of the camera.

Everyone knows about Tyson's voice and his education, or lack thereof, it's just that, know one is crazy enough to mention it to his face.

I've never heard of Kevin McBride before, I imagine Tyson will obliterate him.

McBride, a few years ago, was stopped in three by British journeyman Michael Murray who was on a seven fight losing streak, who then went on to lose his final 10 fights (McBride was his final win). Murray was KOed twice by Danny Williams.

That's the sort of opposition Tyson is facing in this bout. :lol

I just saw this on the local news... geez, this guy towers over Tyson. Is this a joke?

EDIT: Look, here's a picture from the press conference.

Dood 5'9 Ann Wolfe knocked the SHIT outta 6'6 Vonda Ward last year... Vonda was 18-0 with 15 KO's before that fight... you have not seen a more vicious knockout in your life... Yeah, yeah make whatever cracks you want about female boxing... but height... not really and issue...

If Mike loses to THIS guy... geez.

You should be making a Vegas recap post and not reminding us how bad Mike Tyson has become.

;) heheh Vegas was great fun. We didn't go to see any shows even though I really wanted to see the Star Trek experience, but the thing closes too early. We walked the strip, shopped, dodged "escort card handing out kids", dodged timeshare advertising folks, and gambled, gambled, gambled. The missus plays craps, slots and the wheel, I just do blackjack... we both ended the weekend up by a decent amt... could have been more but I had a bad ending sequence at the last blackjack table just before we headed out.

The Venetian is gorgeous... but it's so f'n big, incredibly easy to get lost in.... they have gondola rides on the outside.. AND on the inside... talk about excessive... so yeah of course we did take the gondola ride on the inside.

Lots of strange people milling around...and you know I love my people... but sometimes some of us who are heavier really just don't dress in clothing appropriate to our size.... <shudder>

Doesn't he still have to fight in order to pay off his debt? *shrug*

I know that's the problem with him... :lol

Days like these...

Have a Blessed Day

That press conference was hialarious! I felt bad for Tyson (don't know why) That guy tyson is fighting was mocking and imitating his every gesture and I think Tyson was too stupid to realize it.

Tyson does have to fight to repay his debts. He's broke and this is the only way for him to make any money these days. It's sad, but he is still a decent draw to the general public who still want to believe that Tyson can get back to his former glory, but he's a shot fighter. His skills have deminished greatly and all he does now is load up for one big punch. The knock out power is still there, but he doesn't have the skills to set it up any more, nor the conditioning to fight beyond four or five rounds.

Tyson was suppose to fight this chump last year, but there was a lot of pressure to get him a more quality opponent so they upgraded to Danny Williams, which proved to be a big mistake. (Lord, what has it come to when Danny Williams is an "Upgrade") Tyson's managers had set up a series of fights that were aimed at getting him back into the spotlight, and making him some money to pay off his debts. The Williams fight all but ended that. I guess they're giving it one more go, and picking him some easy opponents to build his confidence and get him on Sports Center when he gets a big knockout. Just hope it doesn't blow up in their faces again. It's really sad how far "Iron Mike" has fallen. :(

Tyson has a new trainer and looks to be in shape. He hasn't said anything crazy in a while so I'm anxious to see how he performs. I really want him to get back a measure of his spark and silence all of the haters. The guy could have been so great. It's not everyday you see a fighter with power like that and such phenomenal technique.

For those who are saying Tyson is stupid... that's probably the case... but ask him about anything boxing related... past, present, etc... he's got a GREAT wealth of boxing knowledge about boxers of the past, current, skill levels, etc....

Now if only he could apply that knowledge to himself.

You know it's funny people say his skills have diminished(and they have).... that's true... the funniest thing? If he could align himself with trainer that would really RUN him like his old trainer use to do back in the day.... he could easily win a belt... come on look at the heavyweight champs out there... Ruiz? Byrd? Klitschko?

Of the 3 Klitschko is probably the closest to being considered a true champ... and that sure as hell ain't sayin alot.

Ruiz has a chin he might be able to outlast Tyson... but he's(Ruiz) slow and that could be a problem. Byrd has a good chin but NO power.... he might be able to frustrate Tyson, but if Tyson landed a few shots I think he'd be outta there.... Klitschko? He's the wild card... I honestly can't tell about him....

Yeah, I agree with you Darien. The Heavyweight division is in a shambles. Klitschko is probably the best of the bunch, but that isn't saying much, and both of the Klitschko brothers have suspect chins, although the younger more so.

I agree that Tyson could win a belt back against Ruiz or Byrd, if he found some of that old drive that seems to be missing since he went to prison. He needs to work twice as hard now, age has crept up on him, and he needs someone who isn't going to treat him with kid gloves. If only Kevin Rooney would take charge again. But ultimately, it comes down to Mike. Is he really committed to getting back to where he once was, or as close to it as he can. Perhaps the events of the past year have humbeled him and he is ready to get back to work, but I have my doubts. We've heard it all before from Tyson and his trainers. I'd love to see him become a force again, but we'll have to wait and see.

I don't think Mike can beat Klitschko in a fight however. Sure, he'd definetly have a puncher's chance, as the power, and at times, the hand speed are still there. But Klitschko is a big, tall, strong fighter with a good jab, the things that tend to give Tyson the most trouble. Look at what Lennox Lewis did to Mike. If Mike can get back to form, beat up a few guys, and look imprressive doing it, I could see this fight happening though, as it would make tons of money.

Oh I agree, someone with a good jab AND power... would EASILY handle Mike right now...
