Military Time and the Nintendo DS

So I got a DS for my daughter and I can't figure out how configure regular time(1:00-12:59) instead of military time(01:00-23:59) how do you do that?

Past 1200 hours, subtract 1200 from whatever number you see. i.e., 1300 hours is 1:00 PM and so on

edit: I can't reed

I just went through everything and didn't see a way to do it. I'll check the manual to be sure (you probably already did though :) )

"OK, so that would be 1000 plus, wait, minus 900, no that's not right. Dammit."

I read the thread title and got all excited b/c I thought "Military Time" was a strat game for the DS :(

There wasn't anything in the manual telling you how to switch to 12H time from what i remember, and there definitely weren't any settings for it in the DS. Another shortcoming of the system as far as i'm concerned.

No, it's stupid.
Let's devide an hour in two halfs of 30 minutes and call the first 30 minuts am, and the last 30 pm.
...what? I don't think you understand how it works. We divide a day into two halves, the time before the middle of the day (Noon, 1200, 12:00pm) is AM, the time after that is PM. Basically our clocks just reset back to 1 every 12 hours. I don't see why that's stupid in itself, it doesn't change time at all or anything. :P It's the same thing as 24 hour time, except we revert back to 1-12 after 12, as opposed to continuing on to 23 and reverting to 0 at midnight..

Basically just think of it as dividing one 24 hour cycle into two smaller cycles distinguishing morning and evening.

Now people are complaining about the motherfucking clock?! :lol
It's the fact that they give you no choice of 12 or 24-hour time. Seeing as how i do use my DS as a clock/alarm daily, i see it as a worthy thing to complain about. i can use 24-hour time just fine, but the fact that they don't even give you an option to change it is weak.

After 12:00 PM ignore the first hour digit (X0:00) and subtract 2 from the second hour digit (X:00).

ie. 15:35 --> 5:35 - 2h = 3:35 PM

That's how I read it to this day.

EDIT: for clarification.

I'm guessing he does and is making an example of a similar thing that seems equally silly if you haven't been trained to accept it for your entire life. Like when I kick daylight saving time around by suggesting things like shifting entire days around so as to make our vacation weeks longer.

But then we go from seven o'clock to negative-two o'clock. :(

Maybe so, but it was very poorly delivered sarcasm, and a really poor thing to bitch about as a whole. I can understand our dropping of the metric system, daylight savings time which isn't exactly mandatory in all states, let alone the world, as they can be confusing, but this is really pushing it.

Then again, I don't feel the thread was started with any good reason. Sure, it would be convenient to have a 12 hour clock, and it would make a lot of sense. But it's not like thinking for half a second longer is really going to dampen our day or become a nuisance. Telling time is something you do rather get used to doing, regardless of whether it's 12 hour, 24 hour, beats, or sundial.
