MindsEye comin in HOT

Definitely watching this game will morbid curiosity because I suspect the game will be a mess and massively criticised by professional reviewers due to the state of the game at launch. When a game launches with no pre-release build up or hype, just an overwhelmingly negative hands-off preview, then I have to ask myself who would be foolish enough to buy this game at launch, never mind pre-order it.

This is a £54.99 game on Steam so I would expect it to be polished and complete at launch personally. I heard that this game is being released to meet a contractual deadline which doesn't bode well for the quality of the game because that means that it isn't being released because it is actually... well... finished!

The cutscenes do look good from what I've seen but those alone do not carry a game and from what I've read and seen it is the core mechanics of the game that are lacking along with tons of bugs, plus very bad performance on PS5, even PS5 Pro. If the game by some miracle turns out to be a rough diamond then I will just wait a few months and pick it up in a Steam Sale assuming it has been patched to fix most of the bugs.

I want this to be good because one, we really don't get many of these kind of games anymore and when they do they are dog shit, see latest Saints Row. Two, GTA in a sci-fi setting? LFG.

However, the more I see, the more I think.....this ain't it fam. 😔

I suspect that MindsEye on PC is going to be a s-s-s-s-st-stuttering disaster because it is using Unreal Engine 5 and as we all know PC is usually the last format to get optimisation and bug passes over the consoles. And if the console versions aren't great then the signs are not good.

I would strongly suggest that anyone interested in this game hold off buying it for now - do NOT pre-order it - but wait until the reviews are out and you can see YouTube videos of the release version before you decide whether to buy it. You do not owe the publishers anything after all so you really should not be pre-ordering any game in my opinion. It's not like you are not going to be able to buy a copy post-release!

Today is MINDSEYEs release.
No ratings yet, no OT, no previews ... what's happening here?
I can't see the game behind all these fluttering red flags.
What do you mean? What does an OT have to do with anything

The fact that they are banning people uploading footage one day before release tells me everything I need to know about this game. And its a shame because I really miss third person shooters

The reviews are going to be a massacre
Are they banning people? I dont think so.

Actual game looks like a train crash more than the train wreck I was expecting. Performance issues and jank will be the main problems rather than the game being basically vaporware.
Everything else around the game seems like a full on train wreck though.

I Checked out the leaks for this game, and it looks like a 5/10 at best.
The gameplay feels like it's straight out of a decade-old game – purely linear, just going from point A to point B with no fluff or anything extra. Most missions are either drone segments or third-person shooting, it's dull as dishwater. Moreover, it appears that during missions, you're confined to the vehicle or restricted to rigid paths. Free exploration of the open world is only possible in a separate mode.

The city feels tiny – you could drive clear across it in under a minute. The map looks like a mash-up of the Saints Row reboot and Watch Dogs, but worse. The streets are a ghost town – not a single NPC in sight, let alone any random events

The characters are loaded with DEI checkboxes – your boss is the stereotypical 'strong' ugly bald black woman, very obnoxious. And most of the female NPC look like they're pushing 60. bc apparently male gaze BAD.

The OT is up. Please relegate all ignorance and shit piling to here -

Dude they didn't even get certification from Xbox on their day 1 patch. This game is coming in remarkably hot.

The pc and ps5 versions have the patch.

Seems like Xbox cert is just slow.

Its not an open world game like GTA or SR. Its a linair story with the world as a backdrop ala Mafia 2.

I would have liked this to be good but the game obviously is not ready and the fact they are pushing it out the door like this makes me feel no sympathy for the devs.

Fuck them.

I was talking about the "too good to fail" syndrome, especialy with veteran from prestige studios.

The guys refusing to admit they made an unfinished average game, blaming "paid negative reviews" is hilarious...

Was this supposed to be a big release? This is the first I heard of Mind's Eye.

I don't think it is. I'd never heard of it until recently.

Yes, it was. Two years ago Benzies was hyping the projects as the next major step in user created content tools (Everywhere) and triple-A episodic content (MindsEye). They secured major investor funding (primarily NetEase) and the studio ballooned to over 400 people in four locations.

Let me make it clear that I'm not out here wishing for it to fail, but people need to know what this game was supposed to be before they decide to buy what was ultimately released.

Is Lazlow part of the dev team? He was working on a project with an Ex-Rockstar employee, i just can't remember which one.
Edit: no it another game called "A better Paradise"

Lets just hypothetically say someone was in a mood to see a trainwreck, is there some video thats considered the "go to" yet?

Any pointers appreciated.

I don't know Leslie benzies. Apparently people were fans before this game. Again never heard of this game before this week and only learned of it from neo.

Was it big in PC circles cause on consoles I'd heard nothing about it

Lazlow isnt working on any videogame right now, they are doing a sort of audio fiction series. Which is A Better Paradise. Him and Dan Houser

There are plenty of shitty clickbait videos.

It's most certainly not a 'trainwreck'.

I have no idea who or what Benzies is, maybe that's why I never heard of it.
Edit: Oh ex Rockstar, that explains it. I don't care for their games.

Thanks for giving me the rundown though.
