Critic Reviews

Game8 - Michael Gerra-Clarin - 46 / 100
Mindseye was supposed to be an ambitious entry from IO Interactive. What was delivered is a bug-filled, unoptimized, and less-than-desirable mess instead. Almost to no one's surprise, MindsEye needed a lot more time to polish its core aspects and mechanics.

GamingBolt - Rashid Sayed - 5 / 10
MindsEye is an excellent example of style over substance, a game that falls apart the moment you start playing.

Push Square - Aaron Bayne - 3 / 10
MindsEye is a broken, boring mess of a game that has somehow been allowed out in the world. It has little glimmers of something semi-entertaining in there with its cutscenes and story, but it's bogged down by a vapid large scale map that is at odds with its aggressively linear campaign, and padded out with a dull repetitive gameplay loop that is nothing short of archaic.

The Beta Network - Anthony Culinas - 4 / 10
MindsEye fails with buggy missions, disastrous frame rates and some of the worst AI we've seen in modern gaming. You'll find the odd spark here and there that's enjoyable, but you shouldn't have to trudge through layers of cookie-cutter content to be entertained.

Give it a year and we'll be getting threads claiming this to be a diamond in the rough and a masterpiece just because some dumbass wasted money on it. This was the true GTA6 but the genius was misunderstood 🫨

I recall my discussions on why an average game got 7 and not 5, as you also have points regarding technical aspects, and this is the best example. A broken mess gets slighlty below 5, and not because it's average but because technical aspects aren't there.

Actually, bugs and glitches is the only thing that would keep me awake while playing this otherwise snoozefest of a game.

The game loop is boring shit. You don't put in insufferable driving sections in a linear game, that's beyond pathetic.

This game wont get a lot of reviews. No review codes, and given how junky it is I dont see a lot of game sites bothering wasting their time or money buying it to do a review.

The game isnt even long either. So there should be lots of reviews by now. So unless there's a flood of game sites unleashing their reviews next week, dont expect lots of coverage.

Game is pure junk and waste of $100s of millions of investors money. You can tell it's garbage. Not only did a few execs jump ship right before launch, did some weird zoom call video for streamers a month ago, and pulled streamer sponsorship at the last minute.

They know it's a bad game so they are going the dollar store marketing strategy. Dont promote anything or get streamer dudes to tell gamers about it. Just let shoppers browse the store and hope they just randomly buy it. And pray this strategy sells lots of copies flying under the radar.

Buh, bu, but, Les Benzies is uber pro maker of GTA games at Rockstar!

There's going to be indie games made at bargain budgets with better water gameplay than that.

What a scam. Give Les and his band of 100s of employees credit for grifting years of salary and $100s of million of investment company money releasing this junk. Didn't even want to live up to streamer sponsorship deals where they cancelled them at the last minute even when the streamer was ready to go loading up the game.

And a couple execs jumped ship just days before release. Name one company where the CFO and Chief Legal guy quit the company right before the product launches. Take the money and run. What a bunch of assholes.

By the way, I was wrong. A few days ago after the game launched on Steam with 3,000 CCU on launch day, I thought when the weekend would come around, maybe it pops to 5,000 after any itchy gamers buy it for weekend play.

I was off..... by a factor of 10! Saturday prime time gaming. Now at ~500 CCU. Sorry, cant upload snippet as GAF is having upload issues. But right now it says 430, 24H peak at 517. Next week during slower times of the week, this game will be already down to 100-200. lol

Before writing this game off keep an open mind. The game isn't an open world nor is it trying to be GTA.

The game delivers a tight focused story narrative set in a unique setting. Despite the issues, keep an eye out for future patches that can fix the bugs.

Although I won't be buying this game I saw one person on my friends list playing it. I tipped my hat to them.

The game is obviously unfinished, they probably wasted the development budget they had and needed another 1-2 years to finish the game but the investors said no.
