Yeah, I think Garchomp getting a mega evolution is stupid too. Mewtwo is already banned from tournaments, so all giving him a mega evolution does is potentially wreck ubers.

Tyranitar will be used whether or not it has a Fairy weakness thanks to its bulkiness (thanks to sand) and the sandstorm it provides. Giving it a mega evolution seems almost redundant, because a Tyranitar without Sandstream is a gimped Tyranitar.

Not really, he comes out and activates Sandstream and then when you Mega Evolve him he gets an ability that makes him more powerful in a sandstorm. Turn him from support to sweeper.

The fossils aren't version exclusive. You get to pick between the two. You can get Tyrunt in both X and Y.
