NLB2 introduced me to this recently and it is by far the coolest sport on the planet. I was wondering if anyone here had some good MMA vids or pictures to post? I'm especially looking for anything with Genki Sudo and his nice Asian ass. =D~

Here's some of the better fights I have uploaded to start this topic off:

Genki Sudo vs Fatass
(LMAOOO)
http://rachel.nu/junk/genki-sudo-vs-butterbean.mpg

Genki Sudo vs Mike Brown
(Mike Brown doesn't waste his time, but ultimately gets owned =o)

Genki Sudo vs Royler Gracie
(The most awesome Genki fight EVER recorded)

You rang?

I've only created about 25 threads on GAF, and half of them have been MMA threads :D

I love seeing new people become fans of MMA, but your fixation on Genki bother me a little, Waychel, haha ;) j/k.

Genki's cool. Hmm.. I have a Genki HL by Jinemon which has some more of his entrances and there's Genki vs Combat Ki which has him kicking guys in the nuts around the net somewhere.

Post it please! ;__; Or if you're afraid of bandwidth, you can PM it to me and I will mirror it on my site.

I love Genki's entrances. =D He tries to be hardcore, but he's just so adorable. <3 :lol

i love Genki "Neo-Samurai" Sudo, great fighting style, but my all time fave will always be Ken "The Worlds Most Dangerous Man" Shamrock!!! Oh dont forget about Mirko "Cro-Cop" Filipovic! DAMN I LOVE MMA. Gonna take Muay Thai this summer, can't wait!

OMG Asbel you're amazing!!! THANK YOU!! Have my babies. ;o;

Mirrored: http://rachel.nu/junk/genki-sudo-highlight.mpg

I wish they'd include Genki's entrances in more of the fight videos; they're always edited out of the ones that I find online. I don't know if you guys find them lame or what, but I actually think they're pretty cool and add to the hype/build up of the fight (my favorite is the one of Genki dressed as a zhu po long). I really want to see the entrance of Genki dressed as the baseball player! ;o; LOL and the cheerleader girls cheering him on are great. XD Anyone know what fight that is or where I could get the full video of it?

I've only created about 25 threads on GAF, and half of them have been MMA threads

Quick, let's tag-team Ryan and convert him to the ways of MMA! =D

BTW, Boogie, what fights are these? After watching Asbel's video, it is obvious I've missed out on the best Genki fights out there:

Screenshots suck, I know, but the fight includes Genki launching himself off of the railing and executing a kick. Genki also does the robot during the same fight (LOL!! XD). I'm also interested in the fight where Genki has dreads and does all of those crazy grappling moves. I can never get bored of this guy; his style is so different in every video I see.

Ken "The Worlds Most Dangerous Man" Shamrock!!! Oh dont forget about Mirko "Cro-Cop" Filipovic! DAMN I LOVE MMA.

Who are those guys? I recently got into MMA and the only guy I've really focused on finding a bunch of fights on is Genki. Could you name some good fights for me to look up?

Asbel* sorry. =x I'm up pretty late for my time.

BTW, would you happen to have the video for Genki vs. Ludwig? That's the one where Genki breaks the guy's nose, right? :lol I've heard about it, but can't find it.

Okie, done. =PpP I included a proposal in there too, for good measure. Sorry for butchering your name like that. >_>

Oh, and yeah, I'd greatly appreciate if you'd upload it. =D I'll upload/post a mirror to it afterwards. BTW, does Genki actually break Ludwig's nose?

Ryo Chonan in one of his early Pride fights. He looks like a ZOMBIE, doesn't he? Crazy thing is that IIRC he got caught in a full-on straight armbar in this fight and didn't tap after like 15 seconds of it being on, slowly wriggling his way out of it. One of the more impressive things I've seen in MMA.

ryochonanzombie.jpg

Mirko Filipovic vs Heath Herring. Liver kick KO (bear in mind that Heath isn't fat by any means...it just looks that way because of the sheer power of the kick). I can't imagine what sort of genetics/tenacity it takes for Mark Hunt to not have been KOed by Mirko's head kick.

Yeah, Genki lost by decision to Bang, which was total BS. =\ They stopped the fight when Genki was dominating Bang to look at a laceration on Bang's face or something; which doesn't really make sense to me, since Genki later broke Bang's nose anyways. :lol

Lore: Did they have a fight on Christmas? I dunno anything about "Wandy", but I want to see Santa beat someone up! :lol Those are great pix BTW -- where did you get them from?

Are you joking, or did Gracie ACTUALLY break some bones? I'm still new to MMA but after seeing Genki vs Bang, I wouldn't be surprised if that sort of thing actually happened...

Loki, I'm insulted that I wasn't included in the MMA rollcall. Shit, my screen name is even MMA-related so it's not like I'm hard to remember! No big deal though.

Also, Waychel, if you're into Asian girly-boys, you should check out Takanori Gomi. I swear, he may actually have a vagina.

I could be mistaken but I don't think Royce had any broken bones. Sak basically leg-kicked him into submission throughout the hour and half long match.

Limbs have been broken though. Most recently, Frank Mir broke Tim Sylvia's forearm to win the UFC heavyweight title.

Lore: Did they have a fight on Christmas? I dunno anything about "Wandy", but I want to see Santa beat someone up! :lol

Nah, no fight on christmas. Wandy = Wanderlei Silva, considered by most as the #1 205 lb. MMAist in the world right now, current Pride middleweight champion and grand prix tournament champion. Wandy was, as far as I know, doing some charity event in his native brazil where he dressed up as santa for the kids.

Those are great pix BTW -- where did you get them from?

Most of them I captured myself from various events, and the rest I found at MMA discussion sites and such.

Supposedly Royce Gracie fractured his femur from the leg kicks delivered by Saku in their 90 minute fight. Seems possible to me, since Saku had probably the hardest leg kicks in MMA back then (watch the Vitor Belfort fight...his entire thigh was black), and I doubt Royce would've agreed to the towel being thrown in otherwise. I haven't seen a source 100% confirm it though.

My Chonan upload is successful. The amazing armbar escape is in this HL. It's a big +120 MB file and a damn good HL.

Those are K-1-rules fights, which is strictly kickboxing. No groundwork. I think that's Genki's fight against Albert Kraus.

You should definitely look for fights of Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic. He is the best kickboxer in MMA. His kicks are absolutely devastating.

Some good MMA news websites include http://www.sherdog.com, and http://www.mmaweekly.com. MMAweekly has lots of news, but their, uh, journalistic skills are sometimes lacking.

There's also the Underground Forum, which is the forum that essentially has the "pulse" of MMA in North America, though it suffers from the same general douchebaggery that plagues all of the internet as well. http://www.mma.tv/tuf

I just watched the Chohan vid (never seen him before) and Christ he is hardcore. I thought he was going to get his arm broken or something in the first part, but he somehow managed to get his way out if it. Who is the black guy with dreds that he is fighting, BTW? Chohan knees him in the face multiple times and just keeps beating the crap out of him, but the guy keeps on going -- which of them is crazier?? :lol

I'm going to my sister's this weekend so I won't have broadband. I think I'm going to try reading up on K1/UFC and some guys other than Genki, like Chohan. Any recommendations? I'll be sure to check out yours, Boogie.

EDIT: BTW I was looking up some vids on Butterbean aka Fatass... no wonder Genki kept running circles around him; he KOs in like 10secs :lol

Can guys from the same country fight each other at K1? I've been reading up on guys at Sherdog and I'd really like to see Genki fight someone like Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto.

Genki's stats

Norifumi's stats

Norifumi is 5'4" and weighs 143 pounds with a record of 9-1-0. Genki is 5'9" and weighs 155 pounds with a record of 11-3-1. They sound evenly matched to me (stat wise). I still think Genki looks hotter than him though.

I haven't seen much of Norifumi in action yet but I watched a really crappy quality video of him mopping the floor with some Tetsuo Katsuta guy. His punches are REALLY strong and he has something like five different wins from KO by punching too. I can just imagine Genki dicking around with his dance moves only to have this Norifumi guy punch the crap out of him. I think Genki would win though because Genki is really quick/evasive and would probably try to take him down with a submission. That would still make a pretty dramatic/bloody fight like with Ludwig, though.

K-1 is grouped through weight classes and isn't restricted by country of origin (though of course there are regional qualifiers for the grand prix etc.), so yeah.

What I'd actually like to see is Genki Sudo vs Takanori Gomi. Would be entertaining.

And yeah, Ryo Chonan *is* fucking hardcore. The flying heel hook on Anderson Silva is just beautiful, and the armbar escape vs Carlos Newton (who is an A+ submission wrestler) is unreal. Got to see the heel hook from some new angles in that highlight vid (and honestly I had sorta forgotten about that fight), and yeah, brings tears to the eye.

After those two fights I really don't see why Pride didn't have him for Bushido 6, but he'll be back for Bushido 7 so all's well. Can't wait to see him beat down Nino Schembri and further avenge that ridiculous headbutt KO from Sakuraba vs Schembri 1.

I was showing one of my friends the Genki highlight video today and he said that all of Genki's moves (like the back-heel kick) were "ripped off from Muay Thai and Ong Bak". Uhm, how the heck can anyone say that something as generic as a kick or a leg sweep was "stolen" from anything? I mean, isn't that like saying someone "stole" their punches from Rocky? Lol...

BTW, did you watch that video of Genki on the Japanese talk show? He went to visit some martial arts school in America where they focus on resistence training. Genki punched this guy in the neck several times and he didn't even flinch. >_> WTF

I found Takanori Gomi on Sherdog. Why are half his wins by decision, though? I'll have to download some videos of him when I have broadband access later this weekend to get an idea of what he's all about. How likely do you think a fight between him and Genki would be? They look like they're best friends in this picture:

What's the difference between PRIDE-Bushido and PRIDE-Shockwave? Different circuits or something?

Takanori%20Gomi_01.jpg

I love this pic of Takanori. =D So cute. <3 He seems smaller built than Genki, but he actually has more wins and one less loss. o_o Hmm...

OMG... the more I see of this sport, the more that I love it (and for all of the wrong reasons). Hahaha

Waychel said:

Shockwave is the subtitle "tagline". Each show has one. Bushido is an offshoot of normal Pride and features mostly fight cards from lower weight classes (under 155lbs)

Oh, and I'm not sure if I posted it earlier or not, but here's Genki at K1 against an Olympic Silver Medalist in Tae Kwon Do. I love how he fakes him out at the end and elbows him in the face. XD I just wish that I had a better quality video of the fight. =\

At the end of the fight you can see him shaking hands with people and nodding his head. I mean its like, WTF, he just got his neck/head bashed onto a mat by some steroid-pusher who probably weighs 200ibs. He sure doesn't show it, though.

Unrelated, but I had to post it. :lol <3 Genki~

Two week tape delay is BS, especially since now lots of MMA fans will have to avoid all the MMA forums and websites until June.

Can't wait for Bushido 7 tho, and I'm curious to see whether Mauro is still around after that commentary job from the 1R TE. That hasn't been confirmed either way, has it?

waychel, as for Gomi and decisions, well, his last 5 fights have been wins by TKO/KO/sub, so I don't think there's really an issue there. The thing with Shooto is that they don't press the action like Pride does, and with three 5-minute rounds for the fighting, you might have half the number of chances to finish the fight compared to the 10-5-5 and penalty cards for stalling in Pride. Shooto also doesn't really touch the situation when one fighter is standing and one is on the ground, which usually ends in a stalemate (or at the very least isn't significantly advancing the fight) as the standing fighter leg kicks and the grounded fighter upkicks and/or goes for the knees.

Taking all that into account, it's not surprising to see a fair amount of decisions from the records of Shooto fighters. I don't think the Shooto rules format sucks; it is a little more towards old-school Vale Tudo in that the ref mostly lets the fighters do their thing, and that's cool.
