MKX PC patch pulled due to save erasing, and resolution errors

Are arcade cabinets really PC? As far as i know they use their own modified chip or gpu just like how consoles have their own specialized cpu and gpu. If what you say is true then why no GGXrd on PC? Not a big market on it? How come no tekken game on PC?

Guilty Gear Xrd runs on RingEdge 2: http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=982

It's basically just a PC, and the game runs on Unreal Engine 3. It would be trivial to make an actual PC release, but the reason why there isn't one is probably because they're not interested or they don't have the resources to put towards the QA and marketing for another platform. It's a niche game after all. Having to do testing and support for a wider range of possible setups on the PC is also not the same as supporting a single specific configuration for an arcade release.

In the past people have been able to reverse engineer and hack out the DRM from some arcade software to run on PCs.

Nah, these days, basically all arcade game cabinets are standard Windows PCs, with standing CPUs/GPUs, etc. They even run Windows (with hella DRM).

Man... that's why SteamGAF is always in an uproar when these games that already run on PCs don't get released on PC...

BlazBlue, GGXrd, and Tekken 7 all run on PC hardware. Even the Persona fighting game and UNIEL run on PC hardware.

Tekken moved over to PC hardware with Tekken 7

I see what you mean. But I still think arcade cabinets are not PC. They use similar architecture But so does consoles. They are modified just for those machines. But i agree with you that all FGs should come out on PC and each console should have cross play with it. IF SFV can pull of cross play with minimal lag it will be amazing and industry changer for FGs.

EDIT: I see. Thanks for letting me know about the modern day arcade cabinet architecture.

Most of them today are just PCs. They use stock off the shelf parts, run Windows, etc. They're also packed with online DRM.

Figured something was up when I got Injustice.

Great game but the PC port stutters like crazy. The specs on my rig are pretty reasonable and I knocked down various settings, but it doesn't stop the stutter.

Really shameful that HVS just keeps getting worse.

I wonder if WB/NRS will ever consider not using HVS anymore. I'm not sure what needs to happen, lol.

It would be hilarious if High Voltage were doing the port of Arkham Knight and they are just keeping it secret from everyone.

Given how wonky the PC ports for the Batman games have been, I'm not sure if anyone would be able to tell the difference.

But we shouldn't press our luck, all the same!

I don't get the complaints at all with MK9, everything about it is great on my machine. Injustice indeed stutters quite severely (4790k/16GB RAM/GTX 970 G1), particularly during super moves and stage transitions; I presume it doesn't store that data in RAM until the move/transition activates. MKX runs pretty well for me performance-wise, though Sky Temple is a little rough.

If I win the lotto I'll flip the bill on QA and post up some youtube vids for marketing.

They all run Windows OS... They are about as PC as you can get.

I had no problems with MK9 either.
Injustice's stuttering baffles me.

This is an enitrely different level of fail than say, USFIV, which was a working product.

At this point refunds should be demanded.

The anger needs to go at NRS for absolutely shitting on PC owners by using HVS. This was my first time giving them a chance, unless I am compensated, I am NEVER buying anything from either company again.

They need to do an apology similar to what Stardock did after Elemental War of Magic.

This is why I game mainly on consoles. I just can't stand when PC games don't work they're so many variables that can change from rig to a rig it's rediculous. I'll take a console version any day over a PC version. I've just had better quality experiences on consoles.

Best of luck to them with the PC version of MKX, it's really been a train wreck so far.

Jesus, I almost pre-ordered this game. I feel sad for those who did and have to deal with this bullcrap. Putting pre-order stunts like Goro make it all the more shameful.

I really do hope they resolve all of these massive issues, as I'd like to pick the game up after a price cut or two.

What the hell are you talking about? How is what you said pertaining to an all encompassing patch issue?

Console games can be just as bad, though usually not with AAA-level studios. No other fighting game port on PC has been even close to this bad. Even SFIV's problems were relatively minor.

Skullgirls PC craps all over Skullgirls console to me as one comparison.

Console releases can be broken too.

I bought MK9 and Injustice for $5 each and I still feel cheated. Crashes and the online never worked for me. Don't even bother unless you're okay with offline.
MK9 worked fine for most people. It was also extremely well optimized. I'm not sure why MKX is such a shitshow.

PC gamers also tend to get amnesia about a crappy launch after the game is fixed. But releasing a broken patch doesn't give me any confidence that it will happen any time soon.

1) This is one shitty port of one game. I can easily point you to the PC version of GTA V if you want something that is head and shoulders above current-gen consoles.

2) Consoles get plenty of release-day games that are just shit. Remember AssCreed Unity?

The worst part about all this: MKX is a great game. It plays so much better than MK9, I don't think I could ever go back. The new characters are fantastic (Ferra/Torr and D'Vorah are a blast), the story mode is fun, the towers give a constant stream of solo content to enjoy, and playing it with local friends has been awesome since it's pretty easy for casual players to pick up enough of the basics to have a good time. It has serious potential to be my GOTY.

High Voltage Software, though.

The first of many bad PC ports I guess. It's sad in this day and age that it still happens with consoles so similar in architecture but when you have a plague of broken games on consoles - hec, it's free-for-all.

It's a shame knowing that they'll probably be used for many more ports in the future. Do they get paid for this or is it considered practical experience for interns?

To think this is the same studio that once took pride in trying to get the most out of the Wii.

I asked for a refund. Can't deal with downloading gigantic patches that fix absolutely nothing every other week. Although I don't have high hopes I am actually getting my money back.

I almost died of a heart attack due to laughing so hard.
Hahaha

so for people who had their PC MKX saves wiped, is there any way to get that back? or did they all get fucked by high voltage?

so I saw another 15gb patch today, did it work this time?

It didn't delete my save file when I played it today.

Performance on Sky Temple seems better. It won't save my resolution above 1080p, though. I have to set it every time I start the game.
