Awesome, I hope we get a large variety of people/teams this year. Is this the year you finally take the Mets?

You get first crack, if you don't want to use them than I definitely will.

Dammit man you know the answer to this question already! If you want to take them say so, I've had them the last 2 years. I'd always pick them but I know you wanted them both times.

We'll see, wanted to go with the Reds last year before choosing the O's.

Danny Hultzen is an absolute monster.

20.2 IP, 8 H, 0.87 ERA, 35/1 K/BB

Oh, and he leads UVA in OPS and stolen bases.

Edit: Also, Gerrit Cole hit 100 mph four times yesterday in his domination of Nebraska.

It's a great concept and a step in the right direction, but I think it will have the least impact out of all the "F/X's." It's optimal application will be analyzing granular situations e.g. specific PA's, innings, or games. As a tool for analyzing pitcher's command, I'm not convinced it will be able to tell you much more than the information we already.

sounds pretty useless tbh. calling it 'command' is making the assumption that pitchers always want to hit the catchers glove, when that may not be the case.

Interesting comment I saw elsewhere. Note that Belt was picked at 147.

Doug Mapson is the guy who persuaded the Cubs front office to draft Greg Maddux in the 80s. He said that Maddux would be one of the best pitchers ever when a lot of teams thought he was too skinny and didn't throw hard enough to make it in the big leagues. That's the same guy who told the Giants to pick Belt two rounds sooner than most of the other clubs would have. They make one change with his batting mechanics and look at him go.

I heard Mike Krukow tell that story while I was listening to the game, but he didn't mention the Greg Maddux part.

I kept switching back and forth from knbr to 860 hoping for some Giants-A's cross commentary drop-ins like they have during interleague play. No Luck. I love listening to Ray Fosse and Kruk go at each other, with Jon Miller mediating.

Domonic Brown has a broken hand. He may need surgery. Amaro said surgery would mean at least 6 weeks out.

Phillies already falling apart.

LOL. I am sure that they will be fine without Brown for 6 weeks. I am also not worried about Utley at all.

I wanted the Sox to sign Belt as a hitter when they had a chance. They drafted him as a pitcher back when the DFE process existed. He ended dominating his first year as at SanJac, but as a 1B. I was so pissed we didn't sign him.

Hey guys I was wondering if there are any Rockies fans that could answer this question (or any one thats been to Coors Field).

I'm heading out to Colorado from Philly to check out the Rockies vs Phillies series in August and I'm trying to get tickets in a section behind the visitors dugout (section 137), but I can't seem to find a way. I figured it would be possible because at Citizens Bank Park you can pick the section you want tickets in. When I choose "infield box" seating it just puts me in section 120 everytime, which is behind the Rockies dugout.

If anyone knows a way to pick a specific section, or just tells me it's not possible it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If VMart was back, I would be pissed not to see Jose in the lineup. In reality I think both Scutaro and Lowrie are going to have an excellent season.

Ben Fransisco and him were projected to be about the same this season, so this isn't really that big of news.

Beltran looked fine today. Ike in mid season form. And Castillo not giving Mookie Wilson his number back is complete bullshit. Fuck Castillo, cut him today.

Why is I that chris Davis is awesome in the minors and preseason but sucks ass during the season when we put him in the majors.
cause he's facing garbage pitchers in the minors and preseason?

Phillies announced Domonic Brown will have hand surgery on Tuesday. He'll be out 3-6 weeks.
And probably won't be back to full strength for at least a year. Total bust.

st is so annoying for this reason. everyone basically knows it's meaningless (except for managers) but people still try to draw conclusions.

eh, pretty sure the people who try and make conclusions dont think its meaningless. ie, radio callers.

anyone picking up that 2% book by keri on tuesday? ill probably sleep on it for a week or so so i can get reading done for class, but want to hear impressions.

so i was just looking at the league batting averages and last year was the highest SO/G since BR started keeping track of those numbers (1910-pres). In fact records were set for three straight years.

2010 - 7.06
2009 - 6.91
2008 - 6.77

before 1994, the record was 5.99 set in 1967. Every year from 94 to 2010 has been higher.

I would if I didn't hate hardcovers so much (or had a kindle, I guess).

ya, ill be busting out the kindle again. been stuck reading dead-tree novels for the last few months since theres no nabokov novels on the kindle store, and neither were the translations for the books for my other russian lit course.

TORONTO-GAF: get drunk tomorrow. come to opera bob's (ossington & dundas). parkes of DJF is doing the second Getting Booked, and it was good times the first time. i wont rape you. i cant vouch for others though.

and it doesnt really matter if you didnt read the book. bunch of people didnt read moneyball last time.

But Larry Jones said there's nothing to do in Toronto!

"Just way too many days off," Jones told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution about the event's format. "We stayed in Toronto for a week and played three games. I don't know if you ever stayed in Toronto, but it's not exactly Las Vegas. To say that we were plucking our eyebrows out one at a time would be an understatement."

I think some Nabokov is on the store now, though, right?

And yeah, that's about right, CygnusXS. Although I love the Library of America series of hardcovers.

so how can chipper say he has nothing to do if there is a hooters in Toronto?

Yep, yep of course. I will gladly/sadly admit that I'm a huge beer snob.

At any rate, that was more a Chipper joke. It's going to be sad when we don't have that redneck jackass to make fun of anymore.
