More like he's just been unlucky in his previous outings. His xFiP implies that he's closer to average than he is godawful.

I think there is some truth to this, but his hard contact rate has actually been awful. Even in the 2nd inning tonight he had two lineouts to the outfield which turn into hits more often than not. He's definitely been bad. Unlucky too, but still bad.
