Whether the Cubs win it it not this year I'm just giving to try and enjoy the ongoing ride. We are in the middle of the best core Cubs team in history. I love going into every season expecting to be a contender.

To be clear though, I'm still going to be salty as hell if they get eliminated.

How great is it to be a Cubs fan. Never thought I'd see from the ownership to the players a first class organization.

Whew!!!!

I'm really glad this team didn't sneak into the playoffs.

Cards ownership has a lot to get done. First should be firing Matheny.

It's going to be a little sad for the Nats to clinch away from home.

series will go 4 given Q will have a great game though :p

Busch Stadium upper deck has a great view of St. Louis.

I'm a bit surprised the western side of the Gateway Arch isn't lit (the blinking red dot on top is small as hell). Maybe it was lit from the eastern side, but I dunno.

I picked this game out a month or so ago cuz I thought it'd be for a playoff spot. For a Cubs division title? Still interesting. It would've sucked if they clinched last night, for me. Not a Cubs or Cards fan, either. Just wanted to see the Stadium.

Nats are overrated considering the division they play in

They'll get destroyed by the Cubs

I mean...

they were 21-11 against the west
cubs were 13-19 against the west.

they had a .627 win percent against the east
cubs had a .618 win percent against the east.

granted the cubs had to face the nats but still.

It's not like the nats only managed to win against their division o_O

beyond that....

it's a best of 5.

the giants could easily end up winning such a series against the cubs or nats.

it's a complete crap shoot.

It's baseball playoffs, anything can happen. Even last year when the Cubs were clearly the best team in baseball they needed a 9th inning rally to avoid game five in the divisional round. Then they came back from 3 to 1 in the world series. That was with the entire pitching staff being elite. Arietta still has his hamstring recovery and Lester has been trash most of this season. Pitching will have to show up or the Cubs will get bounced.

Thread finally hitting the limit as the final series comes

the soft limit... we are still far from the hard limit :p
I mean one of the threads I am in is nearly at 22000 posts lol.
I wonder if the twins fans are going to like the white sox for one day or if it's going into extras.

It's weird how little respect the Nats are getting despite playing like one of the best teams in baseball for pretty much the entire season despite half their roster losing play time at some given point.

and the twins fans are white sox fans for at least a few minutes.

I think too many people forget that the nats will get to run Gio Gonzalez, Stephen Strasburg and Max Scherzer as their rotation.

Woohooo!!!!
Coming in to the season I just wanted the Twins not to suck
They didn't
Then I wanted them to be hanging around the central/wild card around the all star break
They did
Then I just wanted some relatively meaningful games in august
They did big time
Ok, then why not compete with the Angels in sept despite them adding upton and Phillips, while being sellers themselves.
Ok why not just clinch it!
Boom. Crushed it.
Well then, why not just take out the yanks...

but that bullpen

Sean Doolittle is a fine closer
Matt Albers seems to have figured out how to pitch again
Brandon Kintzler has been solid
Ryan Madson has also been solid.

I mean is it the best bullpen ever no, but I would consider it far from bad for a playoff situation.

I mean as a whole the nats have scored almost as many runs as the cubs and have given up quite a few less runs than them.

White Sox better do their damn job in this final series.

you mean falling over and letting the superior team win?

I mean the white sox already announced that their best pitcher was shut down for the season.

I mean the indians will have to get through the horror that is likely
David Holmberg
Mike Pelfrey
Carson Fulmer (who has quite a bit of potential but hasn't really put it together.

plus the bullpen will likely be shot given Dylan Covey is starting tomorrow most likely lol.

Next season will be interesting though.
Lucas Giolito
Carlos Rodón(will ideally be healthy)
Reynaldo López
Carson Fulmer (who will ideally figure it out more over the off season)
is a pretty promising group.

I imagine shields will be the 5th starter, but given he is getting stuff done to both knees, he might come back decent next season. or I could see the whitesox signing someone.

though it's not like they don't have a few more promising pitchers in the minors.

As a Chicago fan who came into adulthood after the MJ era (I was 12 in '98), It's so weird following a team that has continued success. I'm ready for another postseason run.
