Only the third catcher in history to have 100 ribs in a season.
You lie. Bengie Molina has definitely had more than 100 ribs during a season.

I see
Pretty sure he's just the third Giants catcher to do it.
so there was Dick Dietz and I can't find the other player... though he must have been on the team for 3 or less years total as I just went through the master list of giants catchers lol
and yes I am that bored.... I've been up for 21 straight hours :/ I am trying to get tired ><:
edit: Walker Cooper seems to be the other one.
oh hey... if the Os win tomorrow they will no longer have a negative run differential
a quick stat check shows Molina topped out at 95 RBIs in a season (2008) o.o;
edit: it seems Yogi Berra broke 100 rbis a number of times so he must be the third person.
Johnny Bench also had over 100 multiple times
Roy Campanella broke 100...
Mickey Cochrane broke 100...
Iván Rodríguez broke 100...
Mike Piazza broke 100 quite a few times...
I am thinking there is something wrong with that "Only the third catcher in history to have 100 ribs in a season."
perhaps they meant team history?
at least you are cheering... I am just being angry in general ><:
I don't think I have ever in my life been this frustrated with my team....

Well, it's not as bad as what us Tigers fans went through in 2009, but it's a pretty colossal fail by the White Sox in the past week. Neither Detroit or Chicago are very good, but I'd say the Tigers have been a fair bit more disappointing this season than the White Sox. Heh, just this past Sunday we Tigers fans felt miserable. Still plenty of chances left for Detroit to give the lead back to Chicago. I like our schedule better, but Detroit has a way of losing to scrub teams.
Heh, I guess the same could be said of both teams (and every team). I sorta hope for a game 163 matchup; Sale vs Verlander. Of course that'd wreck either team if they made the playoffs, but it'd be fun. And at this point in the season I'm desperate for more baseball games. It's always a cold winter without them
He is calling Molina fat.
The thing is I wouldn't be so angry in general if it was just my white sox failing but it's how they are failing... The team on the field these last few weeks looks like a completely different team then the first half of the season.
First half of the season fielding: Intelligent plays, always hit cut off man, didn't throw the ball if they had no shot of getting the guy out.
these past few weeks of fielding: Trapping themselves while chasing down deep flies and thus giving extra bases up. trying to throw the ball all the way to bases instead of hitting the cut off man. Repeatedly throwing the ball away on plays they have no shot of making.
First half of the season hitting: Most players weren't chasing pitches 6-8 inches off the plate and were aiming to hit line drives and were solid when it came to RISP
last few weeks hitting: repeatedly striking out on pitches 6-8 inches off the plate, everyone seems to have an uppercut swing trying to hit the ball 600 feet and just repeatedly popping out. Like a .150 batting average with RISP
It's just in general maddening. Yes the white sox have a few holes and aren't likely to dominate the playoffs if they make it, but I said from the start they were a better team than people thought they were (on paper they weren't really much different than the team favored to win the AL central the year before when Dunn was added, Dunn's complete and utter failure of a year seemed to turn people's opinion of the WS quite sour). I really need the white sox to patch up the team in the off season... which it will be an interesting off season given that Kenny Williams is no longer our GM (trade deadlines will likely be more boring now lol)
I see it now lol... now that I am not sleep deprived I can spot that it said "ribs" and not "rbis" ><
Well, what can I say about Detroit's fielding? : LOL
I've thought the White Sox were underestimated the whole time too. Not a great team, but enough power to really ambush someone. I had no idea Sale was gonna do what he's doing. Makes me a lot more nervous about the rivalry in the future.

2-0 Pirates.
Watching Sale pitch last year I figured if he got his chance as a starter he could be the Ace of the future and a cy young contender. I didn't figure that would come in his first season though I expected him to do around Mark Buehrle's 2011 numbers (which is still pretty good) personally if I was a tigers fan I would be worried about the white sox young pitching in general, Jose Quintana, and Hector Santiago to name the big ones. If all the white sox have is Sale next year then it won't be a huge deal. I mean even if he does pitch like Randy Johnson that he is often compared to (even on broadcasts that aren't the white sox) he is at best worth what 33 wins. If quintana can return to his early season form, and Santiago get a little better control the white sox could have one of their best starting 3 in the last decade for less than a million (likely won't happen but one can dream)... which would leave a lot of extra money for other things (like the third basemen, the 5th starting pitcher since we will get Danks back, a Catcher and some bullpen help.)
As for KC, they already came out and said they were going to spend on pitching this off season, that they feel that their time to shine with their current hitters is coming they just need better pitching. We will have to see how this pans out, but if they do come out and spend 30-40mil in the offseason on pitching they really could be something to fear next year... though given the white sox went 6-12 against KC this year I suppose they were something to fear this year as well, at least for the white sox ><:
edit: oh hey the tigers are already winning 4-0... oh well the real test for the tigers starts tomorrow once they hit the road. Tigers have dominated KC at home... Tigers haven't done much of anything with the twins or KC on the road though.
I kinda hope and am kinda afraid of the Royals getting Greinke.
And if Sale is worth 33 wins he'll have had the best season in the history of the game by some margin lol. I get what you meant though. The Tigers don't have much of great promise in terms of young arms, but the ones we have are right around the early end of their peak years and I expect our top 3 to be good to excellent for the next several seasons (barring injury). Porcello needs to be on a team that can play some defense. Smyly's an ok #4 or a very good #5. Just depends on if we re-sign Sanchez, which I think is pretty doubtful.
I wish there was someone we could trade Fielder to. I love him, but that contract is a monster and he's only going to get worse in the field. It's pretty obvious he benefited greatly from playing in Miller Park.
Lol we have such a baby ballpark. Latos is pissed off.
Not as bad as Yankees stadium. Latos is just used to the NL West still. *where hitting goes to die*
Marlins to sign Adam Greenberg for one game
This was the guy that saw one pitch in his career. 7 years ago, he was on the Cubs, facing the Marlins and was plunked with a fastball to the head. He had major concussion problems and never was able to return to the majors.
Classy move by the Marlins. They finally are doing something right.
Wow, Greenberg ended up facing Valerio de los Santos again in the minors and got hit by him again. Article says de los Santos was so fucked up by hitting him again that he eventually fell out of baseball. Crazy.
There is another twist to the story. A couple of years ago, Greenberg faced de los Santos again in a Minor League game. The first pitch Greenberg saw was a cutter in on his hands for a strike. Greenberg ended up getting a hit in that at-bat
Too bad it only took them killing the Expos, swindling the people of Miami, and insulting my people.Marlins to sign Adam Greenberg for one game

Imagine if the Royals managed to get both Greinke and Peavy lol.
Watching the tigers I have to wonder if Al Alburquerque could be stretched out to a starter. He has been solid for the tigers so far, but that doesn't mean he could start (plus that whole injury thing)
Short of eating Fielder's contract I doubt you could trade him. His numbers aren't bad but that is one huge contract lol.
NL West? Try AL West. Angels, A's, and M's are 21st, 27th and 30th in Park Factor.
Plus you guys have Coors Field.
Umpires said:You're welcome Tigers.
good start to that tagging fister for a few runs in the 8th that I was talking about an inning ago
No lead is safe when it's the Tigers holding it. This sets up Valverde for a chance to close, which means our chance of winning dropped by 75%
Indians have fired Manny Acta.
Sandy Alomar Jr. will manage the team for the final 6 games.
I would love for the braves to hire him.Indians have fired Manny Acta.
Valverde has actually been boring to watch recently... aka he has actually been getting things done quickly... hopefully that is not the case today. or hey maybe KC can just tag coke that would be nice.
I would love for the braves to hire him.
If you only extend that to his last 2 outings. He gave up 5 runs in the previous 4 and a third. He's done. His splitter is non-existent and/or ineffective, his fastball doesn't miss many bats either. Velocity down, erratic control, and he's working with a 1 pitch arsenal. He's done.
