Braves considering Roy Oswalt

With the disappointing performances thus far from Jair Jurrjens and Mike Minor, the Braves have scrambled to figure out how to address the rotation issues. The team still believes it's too soon to thrust Julio Teheran into the Majors permanently. The team also values Kris Medlen more in the bullpen than the rotation, at least until Peter Moylan is ready to return.

There's also some internal trepidation surrounding Tommy Hanson. Hanson's balky shoulder, which eliminated him from the season's final two months last year, has held up well through the season's first two months. However, his fastball is barely hitting 91 and scouts say his stuff is nowhere near as electric as in years past. "His stuff just doesn't have the same zip," one NL East scout says. "It's a lot easier to catch up to his fastball this season."

Jurrjens, an All-Star in 2011, was abysmal in four starts before being optioned to AAA Gwinnett. A return to the Majors doesn't seem soon considering he just gave up 12 runs in just 4.1 innings in a AAA start. Minor was wonderful in his first four starts, but his last four starts have approached Jurrjens levels of terrible.

With all this uncertaintly behind MLB ERA leader Brandon Beachy, veteran Tim Hudson, and rookie Randall Delgado, the Braves are looking outside the box for solutions.

Dave O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported today that the Braves have internally discussed the idea of signing Roy Oswalt. Oswalt recently threw for Phillies and Red Sox scouts, but Braves scouts were not present. Still, there is definite interest in Oswalt if Minor can't shake his struggles. If Minor performs badly again in his next start, expect things to heat up quickly between the Braves and Oswalt.

Isn't Burkhardt a Flyers fan?
Honestly, you are talking to the wrong person about this. Besides Howie Rose being one of the voices of Hockey in NY and his love of the Islanders, the only other thing I know of is that the puck is black and the players smack it around.

LJ11 I believe is a hockey guy, he'd know.

Lemme tell you something Toronto fans, what you dealing with here is not your average NL team. You dealing with the Mets; a brotherhood of players that never get down and always rise to the occasion! They take what they want, and they want all 3 games in Toronto sucka!

Toronto Blue Jays, DEY COMING FOR YOU, MOTHERCANUCKER!

Did you crib that line from an old Imus episode?

"I’m just going to go out there and let Cinco take over, man," he said. "I’m not really worried about it."

Asked whether he or his former team would have the advantage when Papelbon first takes the mound against the Sox, the Phillies closer did not hesitate.

"Cinco’s always got the advantage. Cinco Ocho, he always got the advantage," said Papelbon. "Whatever he does, he don’t know how he do, he just do. He always got the advantage. Never underestimate Cinco Ocho. It’s 10-to-1 odds. Don’t ever bet against him."

I don't understand the strong opinions about Interleague. It's still baseball, it's still pretty much the best thing ever. Even with stupid things like the DH.

Okay this is fucking ridiculous. Either Niese is tipping his pitches or his location is bad, and other than not mixing it up alot that pitch was NOT a bad pitch. Something is definitely up.
