Santana may be throwing a curve, or he's throwing two different sliders.
I remember hearing about Santana tinkering with a curve in spring but I never saw him throw it. Gary did say that Santana and Warthen have worked on getting Johan's slider more downward movement.

Yeah, he's definitely throwing a slider with more break, but he also has one with little to no break, more like a cutter but it's only a couple of mph faster than his slider.

It might be a cutter. Warthen had been pushing that pitch in spring, Pelfrey and Gee were throwing it too.

5 games tonight affected by the MLB on Fox blackout policy (ie the games not airing on FOX in your area will be blacked out):

Rays/Red Sox
Phillies/Cardinals
Angels/Mariners
Reds/Rockies
Pirates/Cubs

Johan fields the grounder, tags Alonso and the ballgame is over!

4-hit CG shutout for Johan Santana! Mets Buffalo Bisons lineup scores 9 runs and 3 homers! But just an amazing start for Johan, 98 pitches I think. He just started going on normal rest 4 starts ago too. Mets hit their highwater mark of 5 over again, and go for the series win tomorrow on Banner Day!
Hasn't it been forever since the Mets had a grand slam?
Bay had one in September last season.

At this point, people thought Mets would be few games under .500. Been thoroughly impressed with this team. Love Terry Collins, he's been great.

man, the centerfield camera in oakland is terrible. I have no clue what should be a strike
On that note, I remember the more straightaway center field camera being a big deal a couple of years ago, but it seems most teams haven't transitioned over yet. Whatever happened with that?
