The next domino is this: Outfield would be Granderson/Lagares/Young, but they like Eric Young Jr. to be in the lineup as a leadoff hitter. So they'd trade Daniel Murphy and have Young Jr. play 2nd base. Murphy has decent value, could get a B prospect for him.But I think it's gonna happen. Have the Mets been linked to anyone else?
Next would be the decision on which of Ike Davis/Lucas Duda to trade.

My thing is, OK, you get those guys. Then you have 2 years where they win maybe 82 games at most and then Price is gone.

If Walker is in the price deal ... I doubt Franklin would be. It's only 2 years of Price ... and Walker is top top top top tier prospect.

The Mariners could also lose out on Price and keep Walker .... and I'm perfectly content.
While getting Cano and Price would be great they still wouldn't contend for the west or a wild card. They would be a 80 to 85 win team at best. They would still need to make other moves on top of acquiring those two.

We have a few great arms in the farm.. losing one for a sure ace who might sign again after 2 years isn't the end of the world..
I am not saying we should do it at all cost.. but I am ok with it happening..
Now, if the Mariners got Cano and Choo, along with Price, I could begin to see it. Depends what exactly they would have to give up for Price, but that could be a WC team if things break right. Their defense should be dramatically improved over last year, so they wouldn't need to hit *that* much better to be competitive.

I can't get excited for the Mariners farm system anymore after so many of them have busted. Fuck it trade for Price.
With all the money the Mariners are intent on spending, I wonder if their plan is to sign him to an extension after they get him. Unless Scott Boras is Price's agent, in which case that's obviously a moot point.
