I remember a teacher sent me to the principal's office back in junior high for skipping school to go to opening day, as she overheard me in home room or something. Got to the office, just laughed with the principal as he told me he skipped work the other day to go to the game as well.

Later in life, I called work saying the doctor wanted me to get x-rays immediately to get out of work.
