Man.

That win the Angels had over Houston last night is going to be the beginning of their resurgence isn't it?

I see it's worked already against Chicago tonight.

Lance Lynn has the highest ERA of all 5 of the Cardinals' starting pitchers. He's a bum.

2.72 ERA
5-1
3.09 FIP
43 IP
47 SO
16 BB

It's difficult, frankly, to decide who our "worst" SP is. By empirical standards it's almost certainly Jake Westbrook, who has a 1.62 ERA in 6 starts.

Westbrook has been a magician so far. That ERA is helping to hide who he really is.

It certainly will on Westbrook. But Miller is the real deal, Wainright is too, and Lance Lynn is only modest overperforming his historic norms. We just have a fantastic rotation. The real "regression," if it hits, would be injury. The true miracle is having the 5 starters you expect to start the season actually start the season and then keep pitching without interruption.

Oh I was speaking directly about Westbrook. A 13 year career ERA in the 4's will not suddenly stay sub 2 is all.

And if that "regression" happens, it's WACHA TIME! Plus, Mo just said a couple innings ago on the Cards broadcast that they're sending Chris Carpenter down to Florida and he'll be training as if to be a starter and they'll slide him into the bullpen if he's not needed in the rotation.

Absolutely. I'll be perfectly happy getting this decent year out of him and then letting him walk. He's served us for exactly what we paid him for; a serviceable middle of the rotation starter.
