MLB Regular Season 2013 |OT2| - Revenge of the Umpires

And then there was one. Ty Wigginton has been released by the Cards and 2/3rds of our offseason acquistions are no longer with the team. Rob Johnson up in his place, probably to give us another catcher while Yadi mends his knee.

Everything about the Wigginton deal just did not make sense to me.

Especially the additional year.

Mets couldn't even help me feel better yesterday. Losing to shitty franchises like the Mets and Marlins, what a shitty season.

edit: before someone gets butthurt this is a joke (well maybe not about the Marlins).
No Mets fan is going to be offended by someone calling them shitty. We all know it's true.

JAYS FANS: I'm looking to update my usual insulting work phrase, but I can't choose between "figure ur life out" and the subtle, almost hipsterish, "0 cabs". Oh Lawrie, you give us so much.

Ah fuck it, '0 cabs' it is. Poor Buffalo, they didn't do anything to deserve blawrie13 lol.

Interesting note on Matt Harvey and why he was off yesterday

Harvey struggled early tonight, giving up a two-run homer to Buster Posey in the first, but he settled down afterwards and threw seven solid innings to keep the Mets in the game. However, it was the first time in Harvey’s career that he allowed three or more earned runs in consecutive starts. After the game, Terry Collins said that Harvey has been dealing with a blister on his hand and has been having trouble gripping some of his pitches.

Pitch F/X breakdown

Harvey threw 12 sliders all game. That's basically his 2nd pitch and one of the best sliders in the league.

The ban hammer is coming...after the All Star Game.

http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_...r-mlb-questions-biogenesis-clinic-sources-say

Ryan Braun, who has repeatedly denied using performance-enhancing drugs, refused to answer questions during a recent meeting with Major League Baseball about his connection to Tony Bosch and the Biogenesis clinic in Miami, sources told "Outside the Lines."

The meeting took place June 29, a source said, and is one of several that MLB has conducted with players connected to the clinic. A source said Alex Rodriguez has not been interviewed, but a meeting is expected to take place within the week.

Commissioner Bud Selig's office is expected to suspend Braun and Rodriguez, along with as many as 20 players sometime after next week's All-Star break, several sources told "Outside the Lines." As OTL reported, MLB started building cases against the players last month after Bosch agreed to cooperate with investigators.

The question is the length of the suspensions.

Sources said the commissioner's office was considering 100-game bans for Braun and Rodriguez, the punishment for a second offense, even though neither player was previously suspended for violating MLB's drug policy.

Marcum done for the year.
Marcum has been dealing with pain in his upper back as well as numbness and tingling in his hands over his last few starts. He was scheduled to visit nerve and circulatory specialists earlier this week in St. Louis. This is the same injury that derailed him during spring training and caused him to miss starts at the beginning of April.
Not surprised, he's been gutting it out for a long time. Niese will take Marcum's spot in a month but looks like Torres will slide into the rotation, which SEVERELY hurts the Mets' pen. Aardsma and Torres have been the two best relief pitchers, and Aardsma is getting overworked. With Lyon DFA'd and Atchison not back for another 2-3 weeks Mets need to get Gonzales Germen to San Fran ASAP. Mets at least save a shitton of money.

Cannot wait for the appeals and lawsuits and inevitable no games missed. First thing I will agree with the MLBPA in a long time.

If guys are getting an extra 50 games for lying will Melky get another suspension for his fake website?

Oakland Athletics outfielder Yoenis Cespedes has been selected as the final A.L. participant in Derby, to be held on Monday, July 15th at Citi Field.

Cespedes and Cano will be joined on the competition's A.L. squad by Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis and defending Derby Champion Prince Fielder of the Detroit Tigers. On the National League side, Derby captain David Wright of the host Mets has selected Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper and Colorado Rockies outfielders Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer.

Have those guys been named in any reports?

We're about to enter an era where 1000+ games of total suspensions will be handed out without a single failed test. This is the true Steroid Era, and it's a prove you didn't era. Everyone is guilty unless proven otherwise. MLB de France.

I thought that these guys are getting 100 games because the commish considers lying to him about taking steroids the same as falling a test.

Yeah but he hasn't proven anyone is lying! That's the best part! MLB can skip the 50 games and just give guys 100 with no proof whatsoever because they won't incriminate themselves in the face of flimsy circumstantial evidence

I do see what you are saying but MLB can't have players lying or refusing to answer the commissioners questions.

1. They can't prove anyone is lying

2. Why is MLB so much more important than the United States of America, which has in fact decided it can continue despite individuals refusing to incriminate themselves?

Cards trade Boggs for International signing slot wish him luck, but I'm glad the Cards got rid of him. Felt like with him in the organization there was always a chance they would bring him back up and he would cost us some games

Boggs wasn't just traded for an international signing slot, they traded it for slot 4. I cannot believe we got anything valuable for Boggs. Let alone something notably valuable.
