MLB Regular Season 2013 |OT2| - Revenge of the Umpires

The Reds would be happy to take Freese off your guys' hands.

I just don't see where he'll have a spot on the Cards roster going into next year. I could see if he was driving in runs, but Carpenter has better offensive numbers, and a much better glove at 3B.

Roid rage.

I know but still, I love Remy. Sucks to see this happen, poor girl. And he's going through Chemo to boot.

Ironic that it probably was roid rage, given the current state of PEDS in the game. Or maybe they are different I don't know.

I can understand why. You're about to get the hammer on you as the face of PED-use in baseball, but you're sitting on 20-30 names yourself.

Might as well go down a snitch.

Even if Kolten outperforms him, why not keep Freese around as a backup? Not sure how much trade value he has but a little extra depth is never a bad thing. Now if someone is willing to part with a good prospect or two for him, sure. Hate to see us dump him for something like a crappy reliever or worse.

On December 5, 2007, the Marlins traded Cabrera and starting pitcher Dontrelle Willis to the Detroit Tigers for pitchers Andrew Miller, Dallas Trahern, Eulogio De La Cruz and Burke Badenhop, outfielder Cameron Maybin, and catcher Mike Rabelo.

I would hope they could get something good and not trade for another Cleto type deal

I think Freese would have a lot of upside on the market. Obviously, his past heroics would add to that.

I've always felt that it said a lot when the Cardinals extended Molina/Waino/Craig, but did not offer Freese any sort of extension. I'm sure if the Cards would have even offered something a little at, or below market value, he'd take it.

He does, the problem is the cards FO, they traded Brendan Ryan for Cleto, Tyler Green for well i have no clue, and Skip Schumaker for I also have no clue

Phillies firing Charlie Manuel is enough of a joke. Replacing him with Jack McKeon is even more hilarious.

What the fuck are they doing up there.

Poor Charlie.

Amaro should be going with him.

It was probably time for a change, but I can't blame Charlie for failing after the slop Amaro gives him to manage.

He just got his 1000th win this week. He's also like 18th on the All-Time winning percentage for Managers in MLB history.

I'll always remember 2008 and this entire run. Love ya Cholly!

Too bad that the Braves lost on Monday and let him get victory 1000. From the Phillies perspective I still don't know why they didn't disband the team at the trade deadline.

Yup, if there is anyone on the Phillies that should be fired it's RAJ, not Cholly.

He was just asked. He didn't take a position. Sounds like a courtesy.

Charlie said he still thinks he can coach and he disagreed with some people that made the decision but understands that's what they believe is the best decision for the Phillies

Ryne Sandberg is taking over.

That's because by the time Freese reaches free agency, he'll be well past his prime and non-superstars don't get fat contracts at that age. Not extending him to a long term deal is/was a smart business decision. Waino/Yadi are superstars so they're worth retaining even if the backend of their contracts will probably be ugly. Craig is a year younger than Freese, less injury prone, has a better bat and more positional flexibility.

I'm not sure his past heroics alone would give him too much trade value. Fans of another team aren't going to care about his October 2011 numbers if he gets traded to their team. Is there enough demand in an aging, average 3Bman that's team controlled and relatively cheap for the next 2-3 years to garner a decent prospect in return? This upcoming offseason should be a lot more interesting than the past one, that's for sure.

Charlie said he's going to fill his time off by waking up early, going to the ballpark, and getting out before the media arrives.

He said he loved putting on the Phillies uniform and would have worn it to the PC if he could.

Charlie said he's mad because they took the best seat in the house from him.

Damn, I forgot it was a Royals day game today until right now! And I'm going to the Chiefs tonight. This has been a pretty awesome week for me when it comes to seeing live sports!

Tyler Pastornicky suffered a torn ACL in that collision with Heyward and is out for a while. Braves will purchase the contract of 2B Phil Gosselin from AAA Gwinnett.

Gosselin is expected to share time with Paul Janish at 2B until Dan Uggla returns from his eye surgery.

Gosselin has a .258/.306/.326 slash with 3 home runs and 34 RBIs in 106 games with AA Mississippi and AAA Gwinnett. He was hitting .277/.326/.343 with 2 home runs and 11 RBIs in 47 games since being called up to AAA.

Sucks for Pastornicky. Third stint offers at least over a full month of daily action at 2nd base, probably his best natural position, and he tears his ACL.

According to everyone on the field, Jason loudly called for it first, but you never know if Tyler was just too focused.

They replayed it a million times on MLB Network when it happened. You could clearly see Heyward yelling for it. Pastornicky said he never heard him and was calling for it too.

Okay, cmon Dirty South. All you have to do is close out Miggy, Prince and Martinez, no biggie.

Holland's slider is dirty, definitely on par with Romo's and probably a big reason the Royals are going to win this. Dominant numbers on the radar gun to boot. A walk to Prince though - we'll see if the slumbering tigers can wake up in the 9th.
