Interesting guess MLB doesn't like GP killing there sells.
No sub services...
Sony with the alpha chad play - pull it from gp and tell those beggars to buy it or gtfo.
Oh, and also telling MS they don't care about the gp money.
Props to SD studio - they back themselves to make a product people will pay full price for.
I'll support that attitude and preorder for the first time in 4 years. I have a feeling this may be a stand out iteration for the series.
It was on GamePass for 4 years now. You’d think if the GP deal was that bad, they wouldn’t have renewed after the first year.
More likely it was always meant to be a limited time thing while the game built an audience on Xbox after being PS exclusive for such a long time.
A big loss to consumers who will have to pay $70 for a game.Interesting guess MLB doesn't like GP killing there sells.
Gamers in charge of demanding to pay more for products. No other community is like this, truly impressive. No sub services...

It's a good thing to see. People wanting to invest in a hobby they enjoy. Having everyone trying to spend as little money as possible is not good for the gaming industry IMO.Gamers in charge of demanding to pay more for products. No other community is like this, truly impressive.
Ohtani or Betts should be on the cover. Or Judge dropping that catch.
You're AL mvp isn't worth the cover?I am pretty convinced whoever picks these cover athletes really doesn’t watch Baseball.

100% he is worth the cover but many years have been hit or miss and mostly missesYou're AL mvp isn't worth the cover?

It comes down to cost as well. Some guys (or their agents) want way too much.100% he is worth the cover but many years have been hit or miss and mostly misses
Meanwhile Netflix keeps hitting records. You want something for nothing? That attitude is how Xbox has disappeared from relevance and soon from hardware altogether.
Or perhaps you're fiscally dyslexic and thought Gamepass was free?
So, YouTube all of your games then.Meanwhile Netflix keeps hitting records.

People can watch a movie for $10 on theaters as well. Or wait a few months and pay $15-20 to watch the movie. So, YouTube all of your games then.
Movies and shows have similar budgets to games.Because Netflix and game development are the same thing?
I am just oldIt comes down to cost as well. Some guys (or their agents) want way too much.
Others are just happy to be on the cover.
Movie watching market is 10x the size or much more than us gaming nerds.People can watch a movie for $10 on theaters as well. Or wait a few months and pay $15-20 to watch the movie.
Meanwhile a game is $70 (soon $80).

MLB may simply be in deals with other publishers for different platform audiences. They did their own in the past with RBI Baseball on I think PC and Mobile (although at least one year of that also came to consoles,) and there's a PC game out now (in Early Access; i assume it's a GaaS) called MLB Rivals.I want a PC version. WTF.
Yes and I'm sure this kind of thinking is exactly what got MS into the position they are in now.Meanwhile Netflix keeps hitting records.

Piscatella on the next MLB The Show not being on sub services in 2025:
Mat Piscatella (@matpiscatella.bsky.social)
"The game will not be on platform subscription services in 2025." This is likely to result in a significant dip in players on Xbox Series, as the title has been released day 1 on Game Pass for several years. Will make for some fascinating comps...bsky.app

Love is in the air, GAF....
It's not that they aren't into sports games, It's the fact that they will probably mod it and won't buy another version until next gen arrivesNo more gamepass, lack of PC is odd…but maybe pc players aren’t big into sports games?
Does madden sell well on pc?
Whole slate incomingIf I'm not mistaken, this is the first time a PS Blog announcement entry has mentioned other consoles like Xbox or Switch, they didn't do that in the previous year announcements.
Possibly meaning SIE is publishing all the console versions themselves now?
Whole slate incoming
Looks like they mentioned it every year.
People getting tricked by the changed thread title from the Blog title.
Getting ahead of yourselves....
Why would they have waited 4 years? Odd. And Xbox has the most players.Interesting guess MLB doesn't like GP killing there sells.

Meh, RTTS mode is mid at best anymore and that's the only mode I play. Seems like they put more work into DD anymore.
And Xbox has the most players.
In 2023, the game had over six times the number of players on Xbox than it did on PlayStation 5What are you basing that on?

'MLB The Show 25' is skipping Game Pass for the first time since coming to Xbox
After four years of coming to Xbox Game Pass, it seems the deal with MLB and PlayStation has come to an end. Xbox players will now need to pay separately.www.windowscentral.com
Eh......that is based on internal data from a trophy/achievement site and it doesn't make any sense.
"Let's break down the data. MLB The Show 23 has been out for a week on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch — so we are taking the player count from seven days. On all PlayStation consoles with our sample of 3 million players, MLB The Show 23 charted in 41st on our PlayStation Chart of the most popular games, linked above. On the Xbox Chart with a sample of 2.4 million players, the baseball simulation charted in 13th, outperforming the likes of Halo Infinite, Hogwarts Legacy, and Madden NFL 23.
When we adjust the data for the total sample size difference, MLB The Show 23 was played by 6.8 times more players on Xbox consoles compared to both PS5 and PS4. Though it's worth noting our PlayStation sample might be slightly skewed towards the European market, the sheer quantitive value of that sample set is more than enough to make this a valuable comparison."
MLB The Show 23 has six times the players on Xbox than first-party PS5
MLB The Show 23 has six times the players on Xbox through Game Pass than PS5 or PS4, despite the formerly exclusive baseball-sim being a PlayStation Studios game.www.truetrophies.com
PS had 3 million players while Xbox had 2.4 million but they "adjusted" it and somehow Xbox had 6.8 times more players? You gotta explain that to me bro.
- MLB® The Show™ 21 from San Diego Studio is the fastest-selling title in franchise history with more than 2 million copies* sold across all platforms. The game has reached more than 4 million players since releasing on April 16, 2021
The trophy data is weird, but this is something more easy to decipher, for an older version but I gotta imagine would still be similar for later versions.
PlayStation®5 Surpasses 10 Million Units Sold, Remains the Fastest Selling Console in Sony Interactive Entertainment History
SAN MATEO, Calif., July 28, 2021 – Sony Interactive Entertainment announced today that its newest generation game console, PlayStation®5 (PS5™), has sold through more than 10 million units* globally since first launching on November 12, 2020. 2 million copies sold across all platforms (PS4/5, Xbox One/Series), but 4 million players in total. Game Pass on Xbox (since no PC version) alone accounted for half (or more) of the total player-base.
I didn’t make the article. I just read it at the link I providedYou gotta explain that to me bro.
