At long last, Georges St-Pierre appears headed back to the UFC.

St-Pierre, the former UFC welterweight champion, is on the verge of signing a new multi-fight contract with the promotion, multiple sources confirmed with MMA Fighting.

After months of on-and-off negotiations, both sides have agreed to terms on a new deal, MMA Fighting has learned.

While St-Pierre's return fight has yet to be finalized, the current plan is for him to compete later this year. A return in the third quarter of 2017 is currently being targeted, sources say.

UFC officials declined to comment on the impending deal, though, UFC president Dana White, and others, have dropped some clues as of late.

Fedor fights Mitrione tomorrow. How times have changed. Cant believe how the russians and Zuffa couldnt come to terms for Lesnar/Fedor during a time when it actually mattered.

I still think a 31-1 Fedor vs. HW champ Brock would have been the biggest fight in MMA history. Dana said in one of the interviews at that time that Fedor would have fought Brock straight away for the belt (he was scared of him losing hype when he lost).

Freakshow fights are the only way they can compete, honestly. What they need to do more often is if they make a main event of [old MMA/UFC fighter] vs [old MMA/UFC fighter] is to make the undercard full of their potential young stars. They do it a bit, but not enough.
